Their cryptic nature is one way to gain a lot of popularity - just not uber-mainstream popularity. And at least twice, they've tried to produce albums that are at least somewhat mainstream-friendly in terms of structure.

I've Seen Footage and Hacker (both with censored lyrics) are the only radio-friendly DG songs I can think of.
