This is a blue board which means that it's for everybody (Safe For Work content only). If you see any adult content, please report it.

>>
There arent any you need to spend about $2,000
>>

I was told this was a meme table, just asking multiple times since you guys never give me a straight answer & this was on my Amazon recommendation list.
>>
>>68886486
That's a fine turn table. Don't ask these retards for advice. This board consists of 70% memes, 20% rap and 10% music.
>>
>>68886486
It's a meme in the sense that it's popular because it's such a great value but it's not a bad table at all. Personally I have an 80's Sansui that I really like, I found it in a local resale store. I wouldn't rule out going used if you can test it to make sure it works.

Worth shelling out $500 for a pro-ject debut carbon? Is the audio difference between the Audio Technica big enough for the $200 difference? I've also heard the anti skate sucks, so I'm hesitant to pay that much.
>>
>>68886486
LP-120 is fine. Pro-Ject is the meme turntable.

This.

>>68886541

Well there's my answer I guess.

>>68886555

Checked. Why should I go for that over the Audio Technica?
>>
>>68886573
bro... like, everyone has a technica.... dont u want to be cool +different???
>>
>>68886573
Better arm and better cartridge. I've had the music hall mmf-5 since it was released years ago and it has been flawless.

I've thought about it, but I can't find either of these for sale at decent prices. Mostly I just want a table for archiving my records. I can move onto meme players later.

Do you have any sources to back that up? In what way are they better? I'm not being cheeky, I legitimately don't know what makes it better.

Here are the specs of the Pro-ject 9 tonearm used on the mmf-2.2

Thank you.

No, anything under $500 is a meme.

If your vinyl setup in total isn't around $2000, it's a meme and you should stick with digital media.

Note: This is assuming you are buying brand new.
>>
>>68886831

I wish I could find some new oldstock. What would you say if your Ideal setup?
>>
>>68886811
Cartridge runs $100 on its own, made by goldring for music hall

>>
>>68886831
$2000 for the turntable alone or are you talking the whole setup?
>>
>>68886797
That tonearm is pricey by itself

>$300+ tonearm
>$100 cartridge
That's a fucking good deal for $299
>>

Does this have a built in phono preamp?
>>

Get some Technics for your turntable. If you plan on DJing get a SL-1200MK5. If you plan on home use though, get a Mk2, you probably won't notice much a difference and if you ever decide to go full audiophile you'd end up replacing most of the more dated components with really expensive shit that the newer models don't even have.

Most is up to personal preference really, browse the audiokarma forums for a few weeks to get a good idea. Don't try and recreate their setups or anything though, most of them are autistic and think that a setup that costs less than their house is literally unlistenable.

As for buying old shit, search Craigslist or garage sales. Older people assume their old machinery is worthless because old machinery generally is, so you can walk away with something that was extremely expensive for the same price as something that is bottom of the line today. Make sure to look up manufacturer and the name of the product though, audiokarma will probably have a thread where they talk about it (though their advice will almost always be not to buy it because they assume everyone wants to be a total audiophile, so try and think for yourself).

Whole setup. Spending $2000 or more on a turntable is for old people who only listen to Steely Dan.
>>
>>68887092
No, your reciever will have to have a phono input, or you can buy one. I use the NAD PP2 phono preamp.
>>
>>68887099
I've got about $2000 invested, maybe a bit more. Built it over a few years though.

Adcom gfa-565ii amp
Adcom gfp-600 preamp
Audiosource EQ-100
NAD PP2 phono preamp
Athena AS-F2 towers
Infinity BU-2 sub
Harmon/kardon CD changer
Music hall mmf-5 turntable
Dual 1019 Turntable
