Everyone hates Danse Manatee and Im always confused why it's so universally disliked when it isn't far off from some of their albums that are held in much higher regard.

What particularly bothers you guys about Danse?

Though it's far from my favorite AnCo album, I love the fact that it combines the thin and fragile sound of Spirit with the abstract and broken apart sound of HCTI. It's the rightful companion to Spirit because it represents the early hours of the morning you spend lying awake after an acid trip- which is obviously what Spirit represents. The sound of the album syncs up perfectly with the jolts of LSD you feel going through your body while you're coming down. Obviously you don't have to do drugs to understand the music but when I understood that connection I started to appreciate Danse a hell of a lot more.

CHz gets shit on so much but I think it's the best album in terms of vocal performances- which is why monkey riches is my favorite track. Im bothered by the lack of instrumental progressions overall, but the super dense instrumentals means that as the song goes on you start noticing new sounds and melodies buried in the mix. In that sense the song "progresses" because you start noticing new parts of it, which I think is a really nifty effect.
