Astrobrite is the pinnacle of Noise Shoegaze, prove me wrong

I despise Jap shoegaze, it seems forced. Give me shoegaze with no chinks i say. Shoegaze from anyone but asians. They can't do it
>>
>>68827170
>forced
nice buzzword
>>
>>68827170
i would tend to agree with you, but some of those japs actually make good shoegaze. It's just hard to find the good stuff, or at least downloads for it.
>>
>>68826374
where can i listen to this
>>
>>68827197
Only because they carbon copy from foreign Shoegaze. Anything asian is automatically tryhard and unoriginal. I have yet to come across a Jap shoegaze album that isn't derivative of the white Caucasian race Shoegaze
>>
>fuzz jazz

Wait. Is this a thing? Can you recommend me some stuff? I'm a jazz guy and I'm starting to like this shoegaze thing and I'd love to see how it'd sound.

You're right that a lot of it is very derivative, but so is shoegaze from EVERYWHERE. You could say a majority of shoegaze in general is "copying" English shoegaze from the late 80s/early 90s

>>68827342
LOLOLOL

>>68827318
I'm not sure what "fuzz jazz" is but ive heard some mixes on jewtube that have a lot of chillstep/downtempo stuff mixed with lo-fi jazz that sounded pretty sweet.

ex:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ouYIW8LRns
>>
>>68827342
Enormous faggot? Nope, dude. Chill. I'm just an ainoid asian nerd in Brazil who plays piano and likes hot stuff and shoegaze sounds pretty cool for my ears.

Say no more. Im sure your sex change operation went well.
>>
>>68827381
Oh, thank you, but I'm already into nujazz stuff like the one you posted. OP wrote "fuzz jazz" on thread's subject and, since it's a shoegaze thread, I got really really curious about how jazz+shoegaze would sound. If there's no such thing as jazz+shoegaze, maybe I can try producing some tracks later, dunno.

A base Jap shoegaze band is a blatant ripoff of the originals MBV ect. At least the Caucasian bands can somewhat relate with musical style and instruments. The jap language barrier and western culture circle jerk is so cringe worthy. I depise Jap shoegaze

Japan had it's own Shoegaze scene going on in the 90s. It's falsely labled as Psychadelic Rock though. Also, Coaltars of the Deepers and Xinlinsupreme.
Though I have this vague feeling that you're disliking the region's music for ulterior motives.

https://theblogthatcelebratesitself.bandcamp.com/
Stumbled across this after looking for Chapterhouse covers
They've got cover tribute albums for them, Lilys, The Telescopes, Catherine Wheel, Galaxie 500, Pale Saints, Psychocandy by J&MC, Ride, Skywave, Cocteau Twins, and The Brian Jonestown Massacre

Quality's a bit spotty but there's some pretty neat re-imaginings here scattered throughout

>>68858280

Use synth and guitar samples with lots of reverb, fuzz and whatever else strikes your fancy. You can get a cheap mic for like $10 these days if you don't already have one. It's not going to sound like typical shoegaze but honestly we don't need more people making typical shoegaze now, we need people like you to do weird new things.

Be sure to post what you come up with.
>>
>>68858280
You could try using samples. You'd probably need a pretty good ear for music to make that work well.
>>
>>68859403

http://www.mediafire.com/file/fab9dmrngeubp41/Melodic_Instruments.rar

existing in someone or something as a permanent and inseparable element, quality, or attribute

I know it can be a hassle to try to find samples so here's a bit of single-note stuff I work with, most relevant is the guitar family folder. "Good guitar" is probably the easiest to fiddle with for this kind of thing at first, "dirty guitar" has a good starting sound but would take a lot of work to actually write shoegaze with since it's just a few chords and "oceanic guitar" has some samples that could form the nice basis for something with effects added. I mostly use this stuff for weird math metal things programmed in a drum machine so your mileage may vary but it could be vaguely useful.

I have several more folders of samples but they're increasingly less relevant things ranging from percussion to glitchy noise to recordings of salt being poured in a trash can, good if you're into nobody listening to your music and less useful for shoegaze.

>>68860039

I use Acoustica Beatcraft and audacity for everything but I'm a complete novice when it comes to actual production, if you're willing to put in the effort to learn more serious approaches you should probably seek out people who know about those things.
>>
>>68860129
I'm a complete beginner, never made music in my life. I know how to use audacity. Have you ever uploaded some of your stuff online? I'll look into acoustica beatcraft. I downloaded magix music maker but I'm not sure it's good and it's a trial version.
>>
>>68851177
You should try I Believe in You by Mob
>>
>>68860169

I have uploaded much stuff to mixed reception. The Cobalt Rod is my main programming project so here's an album that displays the samples I just posted in motion, I'm also the guy who posted the Suburban Deer album here two years ago that nobody will remember which shows off how not great I am at audacity as well. I recently downloaded a bunch of effect pedal programs for audacity as well, unfortunately they aren't reflected in any of my current material but if you do a small amount of googling you should find some cool stuff.

>>
>>68860476
holy shit dude, these are all made by computer using a bunch of samples?? This is actually crazy, the possibilities are endless. How do you make vocals like Suburban Deer? My guess is you recorded them with audacity and added reverb?
>>
>>68860521

Yeah, thanks. Happy with how it turned out mostly but the shoegaze half of the concept didn't quite get off the ground. Hoping to release a second album before the year ends, already finished one but it was pretty garbage so I'm just going to hold off on putting that out there. The aforementioned audacity effects things have been a gamechanger though, the new songs are finally starting to sound like what I wanted to do in the first place.
>>
>>68860634

Oh no, sorry for the confusion. Only the drums for the Suburban Deer album are programmed (well, and one cowbell), the guitar and vocals there are all my shitty playing and singing as an example of what novice audacity production can get you.

That's what everyone thought during Neko to Allergy. That album was goddamn bland. I'm only just listening to Ai no Yukue now and while it isn't the same Eureka era KT, it's definitely a much-needed return to form.

Is there any chance for Shoegaze to become popular again? Was it even popular in the early 90's? I only remember eurodance from the mid 90's myself, perhaps some older Anons could share their memories.
>>
>>68896086
It's still popular, all the big shots are touring across the world. Do you even follow the scene?
>>
>>68896374

I never hear it on the radio.
>>
>>68896432
you'll never hear the good stuff on radio... just top 40 and the old "classics".
>>
>>68896086

it seems like there was kind of a revival w/ whirr, nothing, a place to bury strangers, and cloakroom but i think it might've died down a little

It is influenced by shoegaze. I know exactly what you mean, and it pretty much is as close as you'll get with popular music that made the radio, along with the SIlversun Pickups song.

they're not abominations, just horribly bland inoffensive pop

there's nothing wrong with x&y, it's just a complete retread of rush of blood with less interesting lyrics. Mylo is just extremely by-the-numbers, but it's passable pop music. Ghost stories just lacks compelling songs and the whole sad dreamy aesthetic they were going for is completely betrayed by the abomination of a trend-hopping single that is the avicii-collab sky full of stars. their new album is like mylo xyloto just worse, and sounds like any other recent pop music - aka its coldplay with no identity whatsoever. Parachutes, Rush of Blood, and VLV are great albums though.

Anyway I just spent 5 minutes writing about fucking coldplay, gonna go kill myself brb
