Honestly very few releases this year either blew me away or grew significantly like my favorites from the last few years (Black Wing, Trick Dice, Familiars, NOTM) did

AMSP is pretty fantastic in a lot of ways and it took me a few days to even come to terms with it, let alone have it build on me but it certainly doesn't top most of what they've done in the past (In Rainbows, TKOL, OKC > Kid A > Amnesiac) and I don't really see that changing much

I hope new Slowdive/Spiritualized/HANL/something the fuck else comes out and brings this year up for me

Rachel Goswell just did a side project with one of the guys from Mogwai I think and it turned out okay and everything they've done since Slowdive has been interesting and at least more original than Souvlaki so I think it'll be worth listening to

Ya, I just wasn't as big a fan of the direction he went in on this one. His past work was more adventurous, and some of his experiments like the La Uti mixtape are fantastically executed and creative, but idk sweatbox didn't make much of an impression on me. I liked the first single too but I really don't think he gave as much effort for this one unfortunately

I quite enjoyed the MerzBoris cut. I haven't listened to much music from 2016 though so I don't think I'm informed enough to say with certainty that it's my favorite album, though.
