this is a really good album, you may have to get past the airy "gentle shoulder to cry on but will never be boyfriend"-tier singing, but it has a bunch of REALLY catchy melodies~

I don't quite see how having a real job and my own family would change my music taste. In fact, I do enjoy laid back/cute pop, just can't stand his voice. There are way better music to just sit and relax.

I absolutely adore this album but I wouldn't say that being turned off by the vocals means that you are "too angst-ridden" and that you just can't relax. It probably has more to do with the twee pop sound, which takes time for some to like, if they even ever do.
