Not perfection but close.
how about posting the names along with the pictures so there's some meaning >""""ITT""""
This sort of thread usually encourages people to post albums that most mutants haven't heard. Thus, their claim is "un-refutable," because they don't know what flaws that album might have.
Also since people have different tastes, one person's opinion of what is a weak track might differ. So is an album that is consistent better than one that is diverse? (The answer is yes!) In my opinion if a band has an album with a consistent tone that keeps delivering great moments, then it is better than an album that has diverse songs but feels more like a collage of influences or digressions.
That said, Say Anything Is A Real Boy and Grown Ups More Songs are my personal top albums because they deliver a consistent sound and have dozens of great moments.
Say Anything Is A Real Boy delivers relatively noisy high energy punk with overdubbed trebbly guitars and big hooks. The tone stays consistent and it is consistently enjoyable.
The only real flaw that I can see is "I want to know your plans" disrupts that punk energy that the rest of the album has. Good song, but if I'm wanting to listen to the vibe the rest of the record puts off, I will skip it.

>Fitter Happier
>Electioneering

>>68747253
Yes itd either okc or amnesiac. It comes down to personal preference. OKC definitely has their best rock instrumentals, but it isnt as creative with variety as Amnesiac.
>>68755332
Sloop John B is a fine song, just not as good as the rest of the album

The correct answer
>>68757458
SW has been doing solo records the past 6 years. Good thing is they're just as good, if not better than anything that's come out of PT.
>>68757650
But House of Cards is a great show.
>>68742796
>>68742854
>>68751891
>>68753186
I agree with these
Only edges out Illinoise because of dat experimentalism
Very, very few artists have done an album completely outside of their comfort zone and what's expected of them and succeeded as strikingly as Sufjan did on this album
>>68758392
I wouldn't say it was out of his comfort zone at all. Have you listened to Enjoy Your Rabbit? Or Sisyphus? I agree that it's his best album but I think you're praising it for the wrong reasons.
>>68758677
Fair enough.
Another thing I find exceptional about it is that it constantly edges the line between "brilliant experimentation" and "hot fucking mess", so the whole album sounds like it's constantly on the verge of falling apart from its own eclecticness but always manages to pull back from that tempting fate, which I find just absolutely genius.
