Can someone explain the appeal of Nirvana to me? I love Kurt's influences - particularly Beat Happening - but Nirvana's music bores me, it's all edge, there's no heart. And Grohl's solo stuff with the Foo Fighters is abysmal.

How can it be "all edge, no heart" when the songs came from someone who was so personally troubled that he ended up succeeding in commiting suicide? Edge implies a facade or an exaggeration of actual hardship experienced to me. Unless your definition of "heart" only includes things that are uncynical or happy. He wasn't a happy person; it was still a form of heartfelt expression for him
