Basically, a pleb filter is the dividing line that reveals who is or isn't a pleb. So, for example, when listening to an album like Kid A, most people would love Idioteque. It's a pretty easy, digestible song to listen to, right? Catchy. Treefingers, however, is a lot more challenging. A lot of the time, people skip that track when listening to Kid A. This makes Treefingers a 'pleb filter;' the song becomes a helpful tool in figuring out who is a pleb. If you skip Treefingers, you're a filthy pleb. If you thoroughly enjoy it, though, you're 'patrician.'
