>>68724097
>Good
Style and production, it's full but not jarring.

Every song sounds the same because of the production. There isn't really a flow it's just there and stays in the same place. Mix it up.

This is a good video.

>>68720269
Pretty quality country rock stuff. Not my thing but it's good.

>>68720283
Reminds me of recent Earl Sweatshirt stuff, I really like it, especially the vocal samples. Hope you put out more soon.

>>68720300
idk if this is supposed to be ironic or whatever but it kind of reminds me of early Throbbing Gristle, like stuff from The Second Annual Report. Excellent Boy is far superior to the first track.

>>68720319
I really like the cover art! Was expecting to be pretty underwhelmed considering that like 90% of bandcamps posted here are "jangle pop" but I actually like this quite a bit. "Heater" has a really nice sound to it, I'm a sucker for that electric + acoustic instrumentation. The bells/synth toward the end are beautiful. I'll definitely check out the rest of the album shortly.

>>68720390
Another great album cover. Not a fan of the percussion, but I really like the guitar work and the vocals. "Head" and "Conceded" have beautiful lyrics.

>>68720698
when the vocals first came in, I chuckled a bit because of how different they are from usual rap stuff. I would work on maybe putting a little more energy behind the vocals, a lot of the time it feels a bit monotone. The beats are great, they've got a very black metal vibe to them that I love. I appreciate that the lyrics also follow the BM aesthetic and aren't typical hip hop fare. Definitely going to check out your other demos.

>>68720735
nigga this is a BC thread

>>68720760
Not bad at all, great track titles. Can't say I enjoy "GG" but I appreciate what you were trying to do...it's insane. "The Fibb" and "Apex Rage" are very good.

>>68721123
Not usually a fan of your stuff but gave Infection a listen. I liked "Loss" and "Nero" a lot, didn't care much for "Erased." You know what you're doing.

>>68721126
Too noisy for my tastes.

>>
>>68721179
I really like your album artworks. Not a fan of the vocals, but I very much liked "Elsol" and "Bases." Going to check out your other albums

>>68721591
This is actually amazing, I love this sort of improv rock type stuff...your art teacher's got pretty good taste. Going to listen to the rest of this shortly

>>68721863
I love this. Utterly fantastic beat, wonderfully chaotic. The rapping is alright, I wish it was a bit more enunciated but the energy is definitely there. Death Grips is a pretty obvious influence, but this is different-sounding enough to stand on its own. Will be looking forward to future releases.

>>68721985
Your aesthetic is neat, the music isn't really my thing though. Keep doing what you're doing.

>>68722553
Usually not a big fan of vaporstuff, but this is pretty good. "Install Wizard" is great, I also liked "Rebooted" a lot. Will check out the rest of your stuff too.

>>68722867
"legendary soloist" and "paranoia" are really good. Very depressive, also like the vocal samples. Reminds me of old movies you'd catch on TV at your grandparents'.

>>68724097

alrighty, fella from >>68726295 here. Can certainly hear the influence from the early Microphones material, though if there was any issue I might have with the album its just that it may seem a bit too indebted to those kind of lo fi influences. Some of those songs sound like they could've been taken straight off Don't Wake Me Up, which isn't necessarily a criticism, but isn't necessarily a compliment. I mean at times your voice straight up sounds like how Bill Callahan did during the early Smog stuff, though I guess you can't really control that, and is actually pretty neat considering how much I love that stuff. And as a more direct critique, the few times when the vocals got a bit too atonal were not vibing with me at all.

though that all sounds much more negative than what my overall impressions actually were. Enjoyed the album a lot, was a very charming, respectful homage to the folky lo-fi stuff we all know and love, which you don't really see done with any actual sincerity nowadays. very neato

I seriously don't understand people like this who just post their shit without contributing anything at all to thread.

I understand if you can't post some kind of in depth feedback to someone else every thread, but Jesus you can't even say hi or give any kind of a sign that you're not just some spam bot shilling this stuff? It's just so lazy, and usually the people who do it aren't prone to giving previous feedback to begin withe. Like what the fuck do you even gain from doing that? A couple new listens here and there? A download if you're lucky? Is that the reason you make music?

Jesus, I'm sorry for the autism rant, but I just don't get it. These threads could just be so much better than they are.

not everyone posts for circle jerking. some people just want to expose their music or listen to other people's. and while often I'll just post in the thread, often I'll just review without even posting my own bandcamp. it's the internet, people can do what they want
>>
>>68731874
Yeah, but if you stop interacting the thread will become shit and no one'll feel motivated to listen to the music.
It doesn't have to be circlejerking. I'd be glad if someone shat on my music as long as it's constructive. Like yesterday, when someone didn't like my EP, called it boring, and the ending disappointing.

> Baroque pop
> Vocal Harmonies
> Obvious Brian Wilsony influences, but it also extends to flaming lips, mercury rev, ELO, Pizzicato Five, ect.

I've got a new album in the very early stages. Really excited about what little I've got so far. Trying to do something a bit more self indulgent and eccentric.

Oh gosh, some fantastic shit today.

>>68733072
man this is fantastic to the point where I almost want to spite you for putting out a bonifide artistic statement on bandcamp before I could ever manage to. I guess instead I'll just rec it. I will say though that I'm not really a big fan of the way you've recorded your guitars. I get that it's a bedroomy lo-fi kind of thing but I'll never like that garbled compressed acoustic guitar sound that you get on so many laptop and phone mics

>>68736455
really like what you're doing here, and I like your arrangements a lot and I love the songwriting in general. I realize it's hypocritical coming from me but your synths sound a little TOO synth-y to me - especially the drums. Maybe try to tighten up the backing vocals, your falsetto goes flat pretty frequently. Try to really open up your throat and belt out those notes with as much air as possible. Sure, plenty of people wont hear it, but if you get those harmonies locked in spot on then it'll create this really full and bright shine. I'm definitely going to listen to this though and take some arrangement notes. On a side note, I'm thrilled to see someone else making weird orchestral poppy stuff in a bandcamp thread.
>>
>>68737323

thanks. yeah vocals are the thing i'm working on the most lately. i'm still trying to find my best voice, which is why i get real weird on some songs.
i'm listening to your album right now, i think it's really great. you've got the kind of tight production that i want to attain. there's a lot of cool effects too, like the vocals on rainy january making the big cloud of echoes and sounds. love it or leave it gives me major ELO vibes which is fantastic.

It's always such a nice surprise to find someone in these threads doing a style like this. I knew by the end of the first song that I was in for something different. I'm gonna agree with Connor though and say that it'd be nice if you could work on making the synth/drums sound a little less fake. (Or maybe just replace them.) The vocals also suffer from that nasal tone that so many of us white boy singers have (and man oh man who am I to say this, truly). Overall though, this album lives up to its description in every way. Very cozy. Wonderful arrangements. The third song makes me think of the way that the claymation characters in old Rankin-Bass Christmas specials move kind of funny because it's still a new form of animation. (This is an extreme compliment, by the way. We're talking MAXIMUM comfiness here.) I didn't listen to most of it, but I will absolutely be coming back to this and I'm sure I will download it too. Keep it up. Make a masterpiece where every song sounds like this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sDyWhgWj7Pc) or maybe this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2tVLIRhuG9A) or of course this, makes me wanna cry (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9l8X5WOlD9Y) or THIS beautiful little thing from my local drive-in (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PFfRrY68SLY).
>>
>>68737967
I know the feeling.
>have great song as final song
>can't feature it because it works great as a final song but not a standalone track and goddammit the whole thing leads up to that moment in a way but not many people listen that far and maybe that's my fault because I need to make music that people like but fuck
>>
>>68738328
Kind of like how Twin Fantasy NEEDS to be listened to in order to have full effect
>>
>>68738285
thanks man! the drums are something i'm always messing around with. it's definitely hit or miss if i can make them sound believable. sometimes i like the synthy sound so i'll try to embrace it; the whole album is electronic so i might as well. i've got that harpers album on vinyl, they're a big part of my inspiration. thanks for the other stuff too, i definitely would love to learn how to do vocals like in the rudolph song, i usually call it "disney singing"
>>
>>68737967
who cares, do it nigga
>>
>>68738405
Disney singing! Yes. That's the perfect description. It's kind of weird how some forms of singing seem to go away forever. I'm sure they could still be recreated, but most people don't seem interested in doing so.

Thanks for reminding me about how pretty some of those Disney songs sound. I watched all their old films quite a lot when I was a kid but I completely forgot how good the music could be, especially what with people always equating Disney music to stuff from the Lion King or whatever. (Oh SHIT the feels. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swgXKnsSmyI)

I'm gonna reply to my own thing here just because.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VikV6yvdyIg

It's funny because I'm sure that this kind of stuff would seem so sappy and safe back in its heyday, but now that its time has passed and it's slowly receding from the memory of popular culture it sounds almost wistful in its treacle-like quality.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzU6vinZwhc

^Above (specifically 2:32 through 3:04) is the only instance I can think of (relatively) modern music emulating this style, and even then it's brought up to date by Wayne's wispy nineties vocals. (On a side note, it's pretty crazy to think that it's the band doing those background harmonies, and that the orchestration is all synthesized.)

Or here's another example of a sound we just don't hear anymore:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_Lv6cHgnjo

The specific timbre of those background harmonies that really start to kick in at around 0:17, kind of a thin sound. You hear it in a lot of
old fifties songs. People imitate the fifties and doo wop but I never hear them attain (or even seemingly TRY to attain) that sound.

Is it kind of like how the average face seems to change throughout the decades, or would it be possible to replicate? That's what I'd like to know. I suppose this is a fairly good pastiche of the subtler details of the fifties:

You're partially right. When people just come in and post their own music it fucks the thread up. Feedback, discussion, etc is what keeps the thread alive. If people just post their music the thread becomes an empty chamber. Notice people that regularly post regularly interact together, a lot of that interaction is what keeps the thread up. People like Droopies just weigh it down.

This is the problem I talked about above. People think Droopies are good so they get a pass. If it was some kid passing off meme material it would be totally different.
