Crumb's such a goldmine.

Anyone with me?
Well, how about that, a blues thread is lonely and kinda boring.
There's more but I have to go. If this thread is still in the catalog by the time I come back I'll finish the storytime.
I love Crumb if just for his dutiful preservation of all this great old folk music.
>Peg Leg Howell
I wish I would see him more often here, will post again after I read the story.
Thanks guys.
Don't worrry anon I love this thread and I appreciate you posting it
Something kind of related that I've seen around the web is the "Damaged Guitar Gods" playing cards. Its a similar concept but there's like dozens and dozens of them and it contains a lot of obscure and underground players... fuck I wish I could get my hands on them

posting more DGG

so lately I've been really into Mississippi John Hurt, who do you suggest I explore next

Well, Elizabeth Cotten is the artist who has a style the most similar to him, but she's not included in this or any other set.
Try out Charlie Patton and Blind Willie Johnson.
>>68702164
thanks for the recs my man...
wonder how Patton would feel to know that people are discussing his music almost 100 years later
I believe the only female in this collection.
That's it from the blues collection folks.

These are my musical heroes. I love blues, country and any traditional regional music.

All that's just to say, you have a friend here. Keep posting!
Hey guys, I'm sorry, my internet connection is really shitty right now.

Saw Helios Creed back in '08. Great show and great to see him on a card like that. Underrated guitar god for sure.
>>68704628
It's okay. My life is full of shitty connections.

Long intro, but I think it's worth hearing. Besides, if you don't like listening to old people talk, you probably got not business with the blues.

T-Model's a crazy dude. Learned to play guitar when he was in his 50s.
>>68701992
Maybe Skip James? His picking style is different (more delta than piedmont), but he has a similar soft voice. He also has a story that parallels M. John Hurt's in interesting ways because he also quit the blues for several decades and got rediscovered in the 60s. These late live performances are really a treasure. Unfortunately, he only had a few real years of fame at the end of his life as he was gradually losing his fight against cancer.
