APTBS is mediocre TJAMS worship, can't believe I fell for them
>>
Asked this in the last thread but got no reply:
Can someone recommend me some well-produced shoegaze? A lot of it is pretty lo-fi which I like but I'd also really like to hear some well-recorded and mixed shoegaze
>>
>>68676657
>Can someone recommend me some well-produced shoegaze?
Curve.

It has Alan Moulder's fingerprints all over it.
>>
>>68676752
Thanks, I'll check them out
>>

They're not that bad..
>>

He also did the sound engineering for MBV and NIN.
>>
>>68676977
So far Curve seems way more electronic than they do shoegaze but I like them
>>
>>68677002
Cuckoo and Doppelganger are shoegaze.

Cuckoo is pretty much industrial shoegaze though. Later Curve is more electronic.
>>
>>68677002
I definitely hear the similarities to NIN tho. Parts of their sound also kind of reminds me of Poe. That late 90's electronic rock sound with a female vocalist.
>>

APTBS are better than JAMC though
Only on their S/T and Exploding Head, Worship and Transfixiation suck balls
>>
speaking of JAMC is their later stuff worthwhile? I hear its nothing like Psychocandy which makes me hesitant.
>>
>>68677559
Darklands and Barbed-Wire Kisses are very good. Automatic is pretty great too. The rest is meh.

Is Rollerskate Skinny kinda happy sounding or just sad? I can't tell it seems like both. Parts of Horsedrawn Wishes make me want to kill myself. The last song especially, that's an hero worthy material right there. It's like the end of both of their albums share in that respect though.

Torn really suits the band's namesake, sounds celestial like nothing I've heard before.

A few months ago I posted in /shugazi/ about how my girlfriend and I were going long-distance and asked for music for that feel. Whichever one of you it was that replied "the sound of you getting cucked until January," I just want you to know you were right.

On the bright side, as soon as she dumped me for the other guy, the other guy dumped her and she's been miserable ever since. So that's nice.

If I could understand the lyrics of Frou Frou Foxes I probably would think they are emotional and touching as fuck

Music for this feel?

I was more speaking in relation to Melting Sun, which doesn't retain the jazziness of .neon at all. Instead, it's a lot more post-rock influenced, which isn't a bad thing, but the jazziness of .neon made it really stand out, both in general and in Lantlos' discography.
