I wouldn't say they had much of an influence on visual kei, but they had a bit of new wave influence yeah.
Masami Tsuchiya was part of Japan's live band for a bit, he's even in promo pictures. Also Steve Jansen played drums on YMO's Yukihiro Takahashi's solo stuff and tour. They released songs as a duo as well.
