/mu/, what other producers make brilliant music as he does? I find his music imaginative, haunting and beautiful. First time I heard Radio Amor was a hell of an experience. It was like watching a blurry movie, a dream-like one. Anyway, I'd appreciate recs and discussion
please no OPN/FlyLo
Is he white?he doesnt look white

does it matter?
Writing quality ambient music and not to be a pretentious is hard. And Time Hacker is good at it.

Of course it matters

How so?

only Whites do ambient.

>make brilliant music as he does?
Ravedeath was not brilliant. I think it sells on the name and the cover photo more than anything. I'm sceptical about giving him more of my time after listening to it.
His techno is better imho

i loved ravedeath

>i loved ravedeath
how? It's below par surely? I can't spot much imagination.

ravedeath is my favourite of his. maybe because it's the first I heard, but it's definitely for the music, I don't know why you'd even assume it's popular for the name/cover

lol at that guyliner
Try out Gas. He does some weird stuff with techno music.

Jefre Cantu Ledesma does really impressive stuff with texture, like Hecker.

Bvdub is basically the pre-evolution of Tim Hecker, he's a huge fan of the wall of sound vibe.

>Dance music
Also check out the Kompakt Pop Ambient compilations, there's a lot of good material there.

Ultramarin is amazing and underrated. Everything else is forgettable.

It's one of those records I will listen to again, and again and again when it gets posted here (it's always that cover). Every time I go back to it thinking "why don't I understand this great thing?" I'm like, it's so obvious what he's trying to do, he found a good effect and stretched it out for nearly an hour which ruined it. The keyboard bits are very wrong. musically.
Just gonna sort of throw shit out there (some entry-level / associated, some random):
Ben Frost
Oneohtrix Point Never
Lee Gamble
Huerco S.
Prurient
M. Geddes Grengas (might've misspelled his name)
Holly Herndon
Metasplice
Emptyset
>backpack ambient
no thanks

I know exactly what you mean. Ravedeath is nice when you're listening to one track from it but as a cohesive whole, it completely fails.
Of course, it's presented in a way that DEMANDS you listen to it in it's entirety, even having 'suites' so it's useless.

What ambient producers do you consider pretentious? Don't see what it has to do with ambient at all, except if you just don't like ambient in the first place.
>>68671042
Have to admit I got it because of the name. Haunt Me was a sharethread favourite way before that though. You should check Radio Amor imo, much more understated.

Man bvdub has so much stuff I don't know where to start. Never got further/farther than The art of dying alone
I prefer Fennesz to Tim Hecker. Particularly the album Black Sea.
