It changed the sound of metal. Entombed Wolverine Blues was a rally big deal, it did take grunge influence and was fucking good. Then Chaos AD was similar (not sure which came first) but they took metal somewhere new.... and it didn't last long ... Sepultura divorced, Roots was v. popular but not much good, enter Korn that was it really, Slayer and Metallica went shit, people like Tool existed, Machine Head didn't become as massive as they should have...
