Today was one of the first true days of Fall in L.A. County
I could never get into screamo until listening to this album.
Filth [Neutral, 1983]
With percussion techniques borrowed from the scrap industry and a guitar bottom that lows like mechanical cattle and howls like the wind in a zombie movie, this is no wave with five years of practice, too messy for mysticism and too funny for suicide. In the great tradition of their live sets, it gets wearing, and lyrics are available to suckers on request. Not only isn't it for everybody, it isn't for hardly nobody. I think it's a hoot. B+

It's the only Swans album is reviewed. Shocking since the band is from the New York scene

What exactly do you like about this album?
Supposedly Michael Gira mailed Christgau a bag of cum after giving them a bad review.
So he probably reviewed more than one of their albums, but only included the Filth one on his website because he didn't want to be reminded of that.

I unironically agree with this.
First I thought it was a pretentious pile of shit, but as I listened, I slowly grew into it. Now it's one of my top 5.
