Definitely Gira.

Shellac need four minutes to do what neo Swans need two hours to do

Big Black and Rapeman also manage to be as abrasive as early Swans while actually still being vaguely musical

albini: 3
gira: 2

looks like ol' stevie wins this one boys

my bad, albini now up to 4

this is an albini blowout my dudes
>>
Albini by a massive margin
Atomizer and At Action Park are better than anything Gira's ever done
>>
>Making me have to choose between Le Vinyl Rockist and Le Rapeman

both are shit

>Le Vinyl Rockist and Le Rapeman
not related to their music, confirmed for image obsessed pleb

you just listed albini twice
>>
Gira. mystified by the Albini votes
>>
gira is a meme with a tiny pecker

albini has been either directly or indirectly involved with more certified classic albums of the late 80's and 90's than Gira has in the entire Swans Discography (including all the trash albums like The Seer and "le babby face")

Albini doesn't try to be culturally relevant or prestigious. He just makes music that people want to listen to, and that's all. Gira has been hanging to cultural relevance since Children of God, showing up every few years with some radically wacky attempt at proving how "counter culture" and shocking he is.

Gira

yeah this is correct

as is this
Even if you liked both, there'd be no denying the amount of classic albums this man has been involved in, and how much his presence has influenced bands.

Gira for the king of edgelords.

Albini by miles and miles. Atomizer alone beats out Swans' entire discography in a 1 on 1.

Albini is for indie vinyl dweebs with skin tight jeans, plaid shirts, and beenies pulled over their ears, talking about The Pixies and slowcore.

Gira is for true people.

except literally everyone who's ever mentioned swans in their life have all fit this description

Albini lost it.
Gira still has it.
Gira wins.

Albini is a fucking hack.
>tfw every album produced by Albini sounds like absolute garbage
>>
As much as I love Gira's work, Albini has objectively contributed much more to music as a whole.
>>
>>68659563
maybe to your inexperienced, untrained ears. Just because you don't listen to a lot of music from that area doesn't mean you have the authority to call him a hack just because you don't like it
>>
>>68658577
I'm with Steve.
>>
>>68658577
as far as actual music goes, I think I prefer Gira, but if we're talking about importance and influence, Albini without a doubt.

I look like a radiant Germanic raver-preppie synthesized with astral cult leader.

>>

Gira even just looks better. Albini looks like your usual sour-faced, bespectacled vinyl-loving dorko boy.

Gira looks at once weathered Aryan icon and Gothic poyote cowboy, with the steadfast gaze of a true mensch.

>>
Albini has engineered some of my favourite albums ever (Seamonsters by The Wedding Present, In Utero, Mclusky Does Dallas, etc.) though I'm not that huge on Big Black. Love his engineering work,, I mean dat drum sound.

As for Gira, a little hit 'n miss for me. Actually prefer Angels of Light to Swans, and definitely prefer earlier Swans to the last few records.
But he also discovered Devendra Banhart and Akron/Family, two bands that changed my life upon discovering them back in the day, so I'm indebted to Gira for that.

Toss up. Both are great, neither is perfect.
>>
I saw Shellac friday and it was incredible
>>
>>68659922
I use my trip to keep up with anons across different threads and follow up with them about recs I give them. That's purely the only reason. I used a name without a trip until shitposters started posting with it on to impersonate me, so here we are
>>
Albini the Producer > Gira > Albini the musician

where at? I'd love to see them

>>
>>68660339
when did I give any indication that that was the case? The only reason I really come to this website is discuss music and give recommendations, so of course I like discussing the recommendations I give. You're grasping at straws friend
>>
Albini because Kerosene.
>>
>>68658577
Albini was much better as a producer than as an actual band member. Not that any of his projects were bad, most are just very mediocre.

Gira has mantained one of the most consistently great bands of all time, (Swans) while having several other great musical projects on the side. (World of Skin, Angels of Light, The Body Lovers/The Body Haters, solo stuff.) Plus he founded the record label that give birth to people like Lisa Germano.

Gira easily.
>>
>>68658577
Gira gets credit for keeping Swans going and really brancing out. But Albini has numerous great projects and is a god tier producer/engineer.
