I want a synth, like a good synth that (sorry for the upcoming cringe but its the only way I could describe it) sounds like it could be on a /mu/core release, or just something that is regarded as sounding professional.

Hate presets but I'd love to save my sounds, analog pls.

Brand/Synth recs?

The standard has generally switched from the microkorg to the novation mininova, which is a great piece of equipment
>>
>>68658311
Yeah. I'll second this.

An old Esoniq EPS would probably do the trick. Be a lot cheaper too.
>>
>>68658311
this sounds good but do you have anything analog?
>>
>>68658176
Every synth could sound good if you know how to program it, so first you need to learn a bit of synthesis. Also what are your needs? Mono or poly? Pads? Leads?
I suggest you to fuck around with a daw and see a shitload of yt videos before spending money
>>
>>68658703
how much money do you have to spend.
Getting a good analog polysynth is gonna be $1000 +
>>
>>68658623
You mean minilogue?
>>
>>68658915
Naw, its Mininova. check out Novation. good cheap analog synths. ive got the super bass station and love it. very fat bass and its all analog. you can squeeze tons of sounds out of it.
>>
>>68658176
Trust me when I tell you don't bother buying hardware synth, pirate software synths.

While they are fun to use they are as no way near as versatile as a soft synth. You will find yourself looking for more sound, at least sound which your hard synth can't provide which a soft synth can much, much easier.

Go for a hard synth when you actually know what you re doing (you know what synth can provide what sound), there is a reason why if you see a picture of a hard synths in a studio there is usually 10's of them, not just one or two.
>>
>>68658978
Im not OP

And i meant minilogue, everyone is using it nowadays (already got a bs 2, nicest synth ever)

Also /synth/ general?

dont listen to this man. Hes trying to make you into every other bedroom producer. nothing wrong with vst's but saying that a soft synth will give you more sounds is just not true. Also I find that hardware setups force you to be more creative. having limitations is a good thing. trust me, having 100 vst's will only bog down your workflow. theres a tangible energy you get with gear. something that is hard to experience with a mouse and keyboard. not saying you shouldnt explore vst's. explore it all! find out what you like. chances are that if you are craving an analog synth, you will only be satisfied with an analog synth...

>but saying that a soft synth will give you more sounds is just not true
Factually wrong. Study how synths work and how digital sound is always going to be much, much more versatile than analog sound.

>bedroom producer
Are you saying this shouldn't be everyones goal? Their goal should be huge studios? what? Do you understand just how expensive synths are? Have you ever actually physically bought multiple? I mean you can have one and play around with it, but if you want a sound of your own one synth soft or hard will never, ever do.

If you have to ask what synths to use you simply are not at the level required to make full use of any hard synth. Unless you have pic related in your bedroom a soft synth will always be more....... "better"...
>>
Id try to get something you can plug into a computer if you wanted to get the most bang for your buck
>>
>>68659209
To be honest,

>>68659343
is mostly correct. The key here is that you can get a hard synth that's comparable to the versatility you can get from a soft but you'll have to pay out the nose for it. I would love a Roland Jupiter but they cost thousands of dollars and I'm already saving up for an RD800.
>>
>>68659378
It should also be noted you have to pay out the nose for soft synths too, they are usually more expensive than a hard synth, but you can't pirate hard synths to learn what you want and what you need.

no, that shoudnt be the goal. only trying to get someone to be inspired. hardware setups can be a huge source of inspiration. I do have many pieces of kit. its a fantastic hobby and I dont regret buying anything.

I started hardware, and i'll stay hardware desu, i'm not shitting on software users, it's just that i can't relate to it, too many things to manage.
>>
>>68659490
You are missing the point. And now I see why.
>>
>>68659525
And why isthis upside dowm goddamnit!

Also owned but not visible: waldorf blofeld, microbrute, and tascam 414.

Recently bought an mpc 1000, awesome piece of gear if u ask me
>>
>>68659526
I dont agree with your point. nothing missed. my focus is on creativity and inspiration. im not concerned with spending less money than you.
>>
>>68659599
My point is if you are starting out buying stuff is idiotic if you do not know what you want/have to turn online to find it when you can pirate a soft synth and find out for your self.

Of course you would miss the point, all you want to do is post photos of your setup.
>>
>>68659634
you literally asked if i had multiple pieces of gear. You asked... also i think the internet is a perfect place to research something you are interested in.
>>
>>68659698
Care to point me to this? Because last time I checked a statement is not a question.
>>
>>68659743
>Do you understand just how expensive synths are?
>Have you ever actually physically bought multiple?
>>
>>68659011
Gonna parrot most of this guy's post. I've owned three synths in my lifetime but I regret not spending more time learning a DAW.

You should invest in a MIDI keyboard and a DAW and here's why: arranging with a graphical user interface is quick and easy. If you really just want a toy, shell out the cash for an analog synth but digital is really the way to go. Making music has never been easier.
>>
>>68659760
>Asking a question if you have bought multiple synths means posting the photo of your setup

>>68659784
I saw your point. it was about money.
cmon man, spending money on something that inspires you is pretty common. and no matter what you say using a vst is not the same experience. also none of this is mutually exclusive. you can have gear, and vsts, and a daw.
>>
>>68658909
This is not true.
>>
OP here and oh my god I'm not getting a freaking soft synth just recommend analog non preset heavy synthesizers ($200-$2000

PC >>> MIDI keyboard
In a couple of years there will be exact digital replicas of most synths anyway.

Look at the Roland boutique series

They've remade some of Their classic analog synths and made them into tiny sound modules

I got the juno 106 one for £250 and its great.

Just buy one of those and a midi in/out keyboard and you are all good

buying a physical synth will not somehow make you sound like a ""mu core"" artist you idiot you obviously know nothing about music

spend a couple years using a daw

this is some dumb ass hardware synth worship shit. nobody cares about your gear, its the result.

>>68669887
Seriously. I'm sick of computers and software, I wanna learn something new and interesting and everyone always recommends fucking DAW
