I found it to be much like the first Gorillaz album. Everyone wanted it to all be like Nightcall, just like everyone wanted Gorillaz '01 to all sound like Clint Eastwood, so they discarded the rest for not being the same.

I honestly cannot find one bad track on Outrun, it's retrowave perfection.

not a fan of their rapping on this record at all. the female singing sounds very dated as well, but it's not bad. some great beats and the closer is great. 2/5, decent

eits on the other hand really just does nothing wrong. sure, it's horribly derivative and you should just listen to gybe instead, but that's not a remark on the quality of the music itself. 3rd wave post rock is cheesy but cheese isnt always bad. might change my rating for Those who tell the truth to 2.5 though.

Its a matter of figuring them out and sometimes I get lazy.
So the pearl is a 8.4 I think, pretty good ambient music and Blood Bitch is a 7.9 i'd say. I just need to tag them. Its been a busy few weeks for me due to school.

Also I made a shitty meme

>>68650882
Brian Eno is great on all levels my man
>>
>>68650920
Top kek I don't even get it

I feel you, it can be a bit taxing to think of exactly the right score on a decimal system for an album. I usually have to give one 3-4 listens before I know for sure. Have you listened to Thursday Afternoon? I think it's his best solo work of the 90's onward

I still need to listen to Blood Bitch, but I liked bouncy ball girl album that I can't remember the name of hah
>>
I usually end up rating artists albums in bulk if I've listened to them in the past and forgot about them.

So my last 5 ratings of albums that I hadn't already heard before rating them are:

Foetus - Nail - 4/5
Swans - Children of God - 4.5/5 (album makes me wanna sit in a corner and cover my face with my hands)
R. Stevie Moore - Nevertheless Optimistic - 4.5/5
R. Stevie Moore - NEXT / Apologies To Mr. Gottlieb - 3.5/5
R. Stevie Moore - Nobody Pays Me Much Mind Till I'm Gone - 4/5

Other notable ones, I guess:
Bon Iver - 22, A Million - 3/5 (found it kinda dull desu; felt pretty unfinished in parts)
Galaxie 500 - On Fire - 4.5/5
Low - trust - 4/5
Travi$ Scott - Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight - 3.5/5 (not as bad as everyone says, just not as good as Rodeo)
>>
>>68651022
Blood Bitch is a shitty concept. Its about fucking vampires and its pretty tryhard and edgy but I like the way the album was mixed to a pretty great extent and the field recordings fit perfectly. Its like a strange ass pop album.

But no I have not heard Thursday Afternoon yet. I will have to check it out
>>
>>68651050
Seems intriguing enough to give a shot. I'll look for possible cringiness

Thursday Afternoon is pretty much just god tier suburban music. It fits the title perfectly
>>
>>68651041
Something I actually enjoyed about 22 apart from most was that it felt unfinished. It made me insatiably want more, but not in a way that I felt a void. Plus the album's very existential and free floating, which is assisted by it being unfinished, almost as if you could loop it eternally. That being said the mixing is complete trash and Vernon was definitely outside his comfort zone, which showed in his awkward songwriting

have you heard Sabu- Palo Congo? Pretty damn good latin jazz album
>>
I don't got RYM, but fuck it, here's the last 5 albums I listened to.

Manic Street Preachers - The Holy Bible - 4/5 (very solid alt-rock album, but it never topped its first track Yes and got my hopes way too high)

Felicita - A New Family - 3/5 (pretty good new EP from PC music, probably the label's most experimental/least ironic offer yet)

Lady Gaga - Joanne - 2/5 (bland as sweet fuck, the pop country approach doesn't work for her at all)

LSD and the Search for God - Heaven Is a Place - 2/5 (I wasn't expecting much of a change in sound from them or anything, but this was a still a dishearteningly mediocre comeback... Elizabeth's p good though)

LSD and the Search for God - s/t - 5/5 (probably the best shoegaze record after the 90s, Starting Over is a religious experience)
>>
>>68654931
>Lady Gaga - Joanne - 2/5 (bland as sweet fuck, the pop country approach doesn't work for her at all)

It worked a lot better when she hinted at it on Fame monster rather than completely going for it. Joanne was bad, I agree. Really disappinting compared to how great her best stuff has been
>>
bumpo
>>
>>68655725
Agreed. Teeth was better than anything on this album, except maybe the title track. She's been going downhill after Fame Monster anyway. BTW and Artpop were both super inconsistent, and Joanne just felt weak all around.
>>
>>68657291
yep, that pretty much sums it up. It's such a damn shame, because I honestly believe that if she had gone underground rather than major label radio star, she'd be making highly critically acclaimed and innovative music right now. She has good taste, she's creative, obviously talented, but she just lets labels jack her around all day. For what, I may never understand. If I was her I'd finish my contract and immediately shift my sound completely and go much more challenging

I only use RYM as a platform to keep track of how many albums I've listened to so, I rate everything a 5.

Fun Fact: Talking Head's 77 is the 77th album I've rated.
>>
>>68658857
why not just actually rate it? In any case I respect your hustle, and I really enjoyed that Mt. Zion record. Have you heard Fuck Off Get Free We Pour Light On Everything? That's my favorite of theirs.

Based on your ratings I rec you listen to The Cure- Pornography, if you haven't yet
>>
>>68658857
so what's your actual opinion on 77 then?
>>
>>68654600
one star for head hunters??
>>
>>68658857
why go through all the effort without just rating

also do track ratings on it so it doesn't fuck with the average. I know you aren't trying to but you're completely sabotaging the concept of the website
>>
>>68661199
It sounds ridiculously corny, and is musically uninteresting. It feels like a mockery of jazz imo. Like a shitty porn flick made into an album.

>>
>>68662433
what do you like? It seems like you disliked all those albums and found Aphasia different, so I don't want to rec based on that
>>
>>68662468
Aphasia was okay, it just had less moments where the songs feelt unnecessarily stretched out like in Constance or Carnavas.

About recent stuff that i liked, I enjoyed the Swing Kids self titled ep, drums and wires of XTC and Tomorrow never comes of Xinlisupreme, but i'm up to anything, even if its unrelated to that.
