Is gabber / Rotterdam hardcore butt-techno?
Pretty much.
>>68632402
Deliberately so if I understand where it came from correctly. I mean seriously - look at that cover.
i got into house and techno chronologically and when i got into the hardcore and gabber part i really didn't get it (i still don't)
shit just sounds all the same to me, those fucking super fast rhythms are annoying af. how can someone prefer that to detroit techno or acid or something?
>>68632402
its just some stupid fun music
butt techno is boring ass bro stuff like marco carloa
>>68632813
it's like techno's slightly retarded, less elegant and refined cousin
it's just catchy fast paced unadulterated fun for people who have taken too much md and/or speed
ever seen this video?
it will tell you pretty much all you need to know about it

New Jersey and gabber. Go figure.
I swear it has a lot in common with dance mania / ghetto/booty house kind of stuff but isn't revered as a big deal due to it being made by pasty awkward looking europeans
>>68633296
yeah, i know the theory and ideas behind it and i sort of understand how it works. i guess i just miss a lot of the experience listening to it now after the 90s 'ardkore era is gone and not in a club drugged af or something.
the thing is i also lack the context of some other old forms of house and techno but i still enjoy it in a musical level nowadays, but it just doesn't work with this rave stuff. well, i guess it just isn't for me. there still are a shitload of subgenres i do like

gabber / hardcore doesn't lend itself to home listening really, don't think that devalues it too much or anything
>>68633765
are gabber and hardcore still played frequently at clubs these days?
>>68633678
Hardcore has evolved a lot. Try this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3W9Yj8a0Fg
Or try one of the more melodic hardstyle songs.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfAD6fwKUFo
Typically have long intros so wait it out, worth persisting with imo, no other dance genre connects on the level hardstyle does when you finally "get it".
>>68633831
Not really, it's very much a niche thing at this point. Except for the Netherlands, who absolutely froth it and have whole festivals like Defqon dedicated to it.
hey does anyone have any links to download any of the Rotterdam Records stuff? only found Bald Terror and one megamix so far, and idk if ripping audio off youtube is where i wanna go

Looks like a great show

>>68634035
I sort of preferred it with less melody tfb senpai
>>68634035
yeah, evolved into complete trash m8
the genres were only remotely redeemable in the 90s for gabber and early to late 00s for hardstyle
fuck outta here with your shitty b8 angerfist and headhunterz
>>68634035
is this a joke?
So I guess hardstyle is the pop derivative of hardcore?
>>68634451
was more derivative of hard trance actually, but yeah still took a lot from hardcore, really didn't get poppy up until recently when it started getting taken but by all the edm djs
did someone say buttechno?
