Far from good but mustaine is not even close to the worst. Maybe today, yes.
If you think hes bad listen to any other thrash band thats not from the big 4. Or imagine dragons or Havok's singer
>>68619656
So Bobby Blitz is worse than Dave?
Also Geddy Lee
going with the obvious pick, I do like his voice though.
>>68619686
Yes. Fucking sounds like the nostalgia critic. are you kidding me?
>>68619694
Ozzy is great
Geddy is in the take it or leave it category with mustaine
>>68619757
Fuck off. Brian Eno has a great voice

Pack it in folks, its ogre
Bitch could not sing until they released brand new eyes when she got a bit better
>>68619494
He deserves mention just on the basis that his fall from grace was so fucking dramatic. He went from arguably the greatest metal singer in the world to shit like this.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RirKPzSH6U
>>68619494
He's really good at sounding angry and I love that. I guess he's not a good singer in the mainstream sense but I can't imagine Megadeth songs without Dave.
>>68619757
Pitbull isn't a rock/metal singer though.
>>68619757
>tfw now all he does is rant on infowars
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojAXUqL--mY
This guy. Metallica's music is amazing, the melodies they produce astounds me. But I can never get into them fully because of James puny ass voice. He sounds like a teenage kid hitting puberty. They even had to distortion to his vocals in so many songs and add a back up bass vocals for him.
>>68619783
Geddy Lee is a better singer than Ozzy.
>>68620994
His voice reminds me of when South Park tries to imitate rock vocalists.
>>68620994
You should watch their live concerts in 80's. Seattle concert is a must.
James sounded like a lion back then
>>68620994
He's legitimately not terrible. He's not a talented vocalist, but he's had training for what he's had.
>>68619694
Hold up mother fucker
Ozzy is fucking great
Awful live
pretty fucking good on studio recordings
not even exaggerating still like the band tho
>>68621819
Really? I think vox are part of the appeal.
>>68620745
holy shit that cringe
>>68621020
holy shit, spot on.

>>68619494
Mustaine at least has attitude. Joey Belladonna on the other hand is just unbearable. He has to be the most boring vocalist in all of metal.

He's both, but should be neither.
>>68621020

>>68623425

>>68619494
Old Dave Mustaine was actually pretty good if it wasn't live. He had that snarl
>>68621020
The Going to Hell song from the SP movie is actually him. His name was taken out of the credits and everyone just assumed it was Trey making fun of him because he actually just sounds like Trey making fun of him.

Justice ('88) is the only record his voice sounds tolerable on, to me.
>1983: Very screamy voice. Lots of false-chordish screams on Kill 'Em All. Technically speaking they're not very good, though his vocals sound cool. He is pretty terrible live though.
>1984: Less false chord, stronger singing. Notes over A4 are pretty uncontroled though. He's also shown to be able to sing more melodically like on "Fade To Black". His voice is bland though.
>1986: Voice is less screamy now. Singing on Master Of Puppets is more controlled. Voice is pretty light live, I'd say it's even lighter than '83-'85.
>1988: Voice has deepened, and darkened. And Justice For All and The Revisited Garage Days EP or whatever actually feature my favorite timbre of his.
>1989: Very powerful, dark voice. Sounds like he is really pushing it live.
>1991: The Black Album showcases some of his never heard before low range (except for a strained B2 in some RTL song), and his singing is much more melodic. Solid, clean controlled notes up to around A4 on album. Voice is much more baritonish.
>1992: His voice is starting to lose power, and the way he's pushing it is not helping.
>1996: He now sounds like an average baritone. The albums Load, Reload and Garage Inc showcase great lower singing, and strong higher singing. His belting is usually very chesty. Lots of tracks spread around 2 octaves. He usually struggles with the high notes live though.
>2003: Voice sounds very tired on St Anger, though suprisingly his voice live is pretty powerful.
>2008: Good singing on Death Magnetic, but live his voice doesn't have a lot of power, and he usually stays in a monotone range.
>2013: His voice has gained alot of power. Hits controlled notes up to around E5 in a lot of performances. He seems to have learned a headier technique. Has some minimal problems with phrasing, but all around his live voice is good.
Thoughts on Paul Baloff?
Also, which do you prefer for vocal approach: BBB or Another Lesson in Violence?
>>68620994
I do like metallica, but admittedly his voice does sound a bit like the guy from the offspring.. and that's not a good thing,
>>68619494
i think metallica kicked him out because he was so much better lookign than them
>>68623964
His microphone is turned up way too loud in the second video

Sounds like he's been grounded and really just wants to go to the disco on Saturday.
as it turns out his albums pre-sellout were lo-fi so as to hide the fact that he cannot sing
if there's any man who should not be fronting a rock band it's this puke

what did he do it all for?? i still don't know?
YEAUH
>>68625696
nice instrumentation but wtf is he drunk ? he kinda just mumbles the lyrics.
>>68625836
I think the instrumentation is pretty terrible desu, his drummer lacks any subtlety at all and the guitarist just smashes power chords trying to look cool for the chicks in the audience
>>68624415
he's actually pretty impressive as a singer tho
>>68624415
The guy looks like Toby McGuire after a meth binge and ten years.

you just chose a bad performance.

so obvious what a hack tate is because queensryche was shit for the last 20 years and then he got kicked out and suddenly queensryche albums arent shit anymore and his new band's albums are terrible
>>68625899
HAHA he sounds fucking abysmal here, what the hell are you on about, the song has a melody, he seems to have forgotten that.
I'm not cherry-picking, he sounds awful in all of his live performances and on his new record. It's like the producers are encouraging him to not disguise all of his voice's ugliness.

Joey's voice on some songs is really good. Caught In A Mosh and Madhouse suit his vocals, other songs his vocals seem really out of place.

Di'Anno was much better and he set the stage for everyone to come, and that happened to be Bruce.
Di'Anno, with all his health problems sounds much better than Dickinmouth. Fuck that hack.

He sounds like fucking Freiza, which is totally in theme with the atmosphere they put out. What's not to love?

I saw Anthrax live recently and Joey was pretty entertaining to watch.
He wasn't super amazing or anything, but still fun.

Tom Keifer from Cinderella. Sounds like a parody of hair metal.

The Some Kind of Monster ep is from around this time right? Go check that out for what happened to James' voice post year 2000. That version of Moterbreath, ugh.
>>68628816
I agree with >>68628980 but listening to live performances from Amputechture and after shows how much drugs messed his voice up.
