I need some help with Fruity Loops.
Every time a new note plays (pic related), there is a popping noise at the beginning making it very hard to actually hear the sound of the note.

I have tried:

>ASIO4all, adjusting all settings
>adjusting audio settings (there are no underruns which means it must be a plugin problem, it also only happens with certain plugins)
>i have disabled and enabled every driver on my computer, reinstalled sound drivers, updated everything
>changed where I plug in my headset on my computer, changed back

And still this popping persists. It only does it for certain plugins however, which means it must be a plugin problem. Where I go from there I have no idea, as for some reason I can't figure out how to open/install fruity wrapper and every guide out there says to just open it. I cannot find it anywhere and I'm unsure if my FL 10 even has it.

Please help

>>
>>68621012
>>68621023

Check the attack and release on the volume envelopes on the plugins that are doing this. If either are at 0, that is almost definitely what is causing the pops. Increase them slightly and the pops should disappear. Tell me how it goes.

Also with the fruity wrapper thing, Fruity Wrapper is the plugin that contains the plugins that you are running in FL. It is what has the settings like Pan, Level, arpeggiator, echo/delay. It is accesible by clicking the settings button on any open plugin (im pretty sure this is correct for FL 10, although i havent used it for years).
>>
>>68621482

Pretty guud

Turn the kick down a bit, and maybe cut the sub frequencies on it by a fraction
put a bit more emphasis on the attack/hit of the snare to help the rapper get a better sense for when the beat hits

I shit on this dude who stole one of my tracks and sold it on iTunes, he stole a bunch of music. I call him a theif, it's not worth my time to fill out a copyright claim on a remix I made that he stole, but he's a douche, and won't admit to me he stole it and won't remove it from youtube. I did it on twitter today, of his 22k followers (they're mostly fake I assume) 2 came to his defense.

Idiots told me to provide proof, so I made a video of his upload playing along side my project file in fl studio. They then started telling me to fuck off and that I coudl face legal action.

It's such a retarded reaction to being presented proof, I gave them the proof they asked for, and they just kept coming at me like a screaming child.

I thought he was an idiot, but christ his 1 loyal fan and his brother are even worse.

They started making fun of my twitter follower count, but I don't advertise it.

I have at least quadrupedal the fan base this thief has, and that's including his bots as real people.
>>
>>68621847
Oh and they both claim he streams himself making these tracks, he doesn't have any signs of using a DAW on his YT channel, he has one video of him arranging a shit song on ezmusic+ from 2011, idk what it is but it looks like you take premade .wavs and put them together. I'm just kinda done.

I don't even know how to deal with someone like this, I guess I'll just forget about it.

>>
Why are some note progression catchy?
>>
>>68628466
Because tension and release. Take a 1-4-5-1 progression for example. The first 1 chord puts in the stable base which is the tonal center. The 4 chord leads to the 5 chord which is farther away from he 1 chord. At this (after the 5 chord but before the final 1 chord) we have a lot of tension and momentum that is release once the final 1 chord is played and that release of tension is very satisfactory to us.

That is a very vey very barebones explanation, which doesn't take rhythm (especially strong beats and weak beats and the 'syncopation' that arises from mixing them up) into account.

how do i make lo-fi hip hop sound more professional? what are people like bsd.u doing besides the obvious compression/sidechain, EQ/high pass, reverb, bitcrush, etc stuff? my songs always ends up sounding much less punchy and full. how much of this is just good sample selection?
>>
>>68634404
A lot of it is to do with sample selection. But if you want to get the true sound you really have to get a sampler or record the tape decks etc. Like the real vintage shit in order to get the exact sound.

Also try not to master as much as possible, just mix it to fuck.

>How to get an overall lo-fi sound?

What >>68633759 said, but I would add that a good tape saturation plugin is really helpful.

Check out Toneboosters' ReelBus for something that sounds good but is inexpensive:
http://www.toneboosters.com/tb-reelbus/

Or, check out u-he's Satin for something that sounds great but is more expensive:
https://www.u-he.com/cms/satin

Using a tape saturation effect allows you to add tape noise, and wow and flutter, which were common elements of lo-fi recordings back in the day.

I'm sure there are free tape saturation plugins but Reelbus and Satin are the 2 that I recommend the most. The both sound great, with Satin having an edge over Reelbus. It just depends on how much you want to spend (unless you're just pirating, anyway).

Any /prod/ challenges?
>>
>>68631016
like what another anon said if you are wanting to get into sample based production get a mpc. ive owned both and while i know what you are feeling, all those people making sp404 beats or sp404 videos on youtube are just playing around with their premade beats and using the on board fx. making beats solely using one of those is a big pain in the ass. take resampling for example, lets say you want to play out a drum pattern over the top of a sample youve chopped up. well if you hit more than 3 buttons at once it stops whatever sample was playing because it cant handle more than that many going at once. so you have to do things in a real stilted way as opposed to just doing that shit in two mouse clicks in your fucking daw. if youre wanting to use one more for live performance of beats youve already made, then by all means they are pretty cool little boxes, and being able to load up SD cards is pretty great.

I'm getting a new digital piano / keyboard. Anyone knows what the point of the Komplete Kontrol S-88 is? I understand that you can use it to handle the VST from the keyboard instead of the computer, but I can't find a decent review of someone using it like that.

When I can simply buy a Yamaha P71 for $400, still get decent enough weighted keys, plus a sustainment pedal, paying $999 for the S-88 feels a bit overkill.
>>
>>68636391
Doesnt the s88 include the whole ni complete vst sound library thing? if not then it's likely not worth it. it's more likely that you will be changing vst parameters and stuff from your mouse
>>
>>68636497
It includes some basic VSTs I think, about 20 GBs worth of them. I already have Ultimate 10 anyway.

> it's more likely that you will be changing vst parameters and stuff from your mouse
Figured as much. I wish I could find a decent review about that specific aspect. Went to a store today and the keys feel nice, similar to a CLP 535 I had to leave behind because reasons. But I could do no testing beyond that.

Still, I tried the P45 in the store too, and it felt good. The P71 is the same I assume, but Amazon only.

Here are clyps. The first one has the clicks on every note, the second does not. It depends on the plug in, it would seem. The first clyp is recorded using external plugins/samples from free sample sites, and the second is using default FL plugins. However, there are other default FL plugsins that cause the exact same popping on each note, too. The attack/release settings are the same in both clyps.

I just upgraded my PC a couple months ago and it's a $1200 gaming rig, very powerful so I don't think they're too taxing. All plugins are legitimate.

I have so many questions
1.do I need to use an audio interface when sampling from a vinyl turntable to my push 2 or am I better of using audacity.
2. do I need to buy a dj mixer to go with the afore mentioned set up.
is the scarlett 2i2 a good audio interface to use?
3. what is a good dj mixer to get if I absolutely have to get one to go along with the record player and the push 2
>>
>>68642800
i was banned and couldnt post all day
>>
>>68643356
1.it depends on the turntable. Some turntables have USB connection so you can get their audio from USB. In that case you won't need an interface.

2.Should get 2i4 because it has midi in and out and you will need it at some point you never know. Plus the amps are more quiet and durable.

3.i don't think you need a "DJ mixer" at all unless you're going to play live sets.

Pretty cool. Needs a beefier snare though, maybe even a clap.

The vinyl crackle is a bit too strong. Understand u cant do much if its actually sampled off vinyl but if its an effect maybe turn it down a bit

Is there any reason not to do that?
Also what is the 'Music Location'? What does it mean music, the exports?

>>68650201
where you store your music libary
>>
What VSTs should I get? 32 or 64 versions?
>>
>>68650201
It could be whatever you want. You could make it the folder of music you use to stea-- err.. I mean sample musical elements from.

I don't think it's for putting your exports but it could be.

Also

>>
>>68650462
The only differn ce these days between 32 and 64 is that 32 bit is limited to using only 4gb of ram. If you're on a laptop that has 4gb of ram then going with 32 bit is of course ideal.

What daw are you using? Some of them can run both 32 and 64 vsts.
>>
>>68650464
So then it is for existing music to use on your compositions? Doesn't sound different than samples

>>68650201
>>68650464
I realized that Windows 10 is doing some major bullshit there.
By default it chose OneDrive for the My Library location. This is wrong because OneDrive is a cloud BS with 5GB space.
I noticed Windows don't use the regular My Documents at all! It put my Witcher saved files in the One Drive also.
>>
>>68650515
Bitwig. It does and I also have 16GB RAM here.
Some VSTs have instalation.exe s and put the VSTs to wherever they want. Can I just cut and paste them where I want?
>>
>>68650566
yes but sometimes you have to relink the presets

Then using 64 bit is definitely worth it. Don't worry, it can run 32 bit vsts too because it has cat bridging.

Also dude when you install the vst you're supposed to set the vst folder location to where you store your vsts not let it install to wherever the hell it wants. your vsts are spread around your drive and now you have uninstall and reinstall them all

That sound at the very beginning is great, maybe missing some low end. From :30 to :50 it sounds like a broken string machine. Ending sounds neat too.

Not so much shredding as it is noodling. Shredding has more direction.

I don't listen to metal so I can't really fuck with that too much. I really like the sound from the newest Tame Impala album. I want in on whatever that was. You know, kind of psychedelic but with enough funk so that it doesn't get boring.

sat on this garbage for about a month. i always spend too much time on these and get major ear fatigue. can i fresh set of /mu/ears tell me if this is a lost cause?
>>
>>68663873
the kick is way overcompressed
I'd also try some other snare sample, something that doesn't cut off as abruptly
and take the snare level down just a bit

otherwise this is comfy tho
>>
>https://clyp.it/5bx3pazt

wat do
>>
>>68663873
>https://clyp.it/lbettmqh
It's nice and humid. Like the other anon said, the kick is really forward. Try pushing it back in the mix a little bit. It only needs to jump out at the listener for the first few ms, but the way it is right now it stands out way too much; as if it were 'unglued'.

But the rest is good. maybe add some (low passed?) lightning samples near the end and bring back the beat
>>
>>68663492
i liked that a lot, maybe shorten it/ vary it a little more? feels like a loop

What's the best way to go about pirating sample packs?

Audioz.download is a great site, but they host everything through fucking rapidgator and uploaded.net, and I feel like my computer is going to get aids every time I use the site.

Is there a similar, but better site? I was thinking of just sucking it up and getting a premium Uploaded account. Thoughts?
>>
>>68667374
I think the melody and the sounds are pretty brohouse. But this isn't quite the same strcture, especially on the warmup. Your warmup should be twice as long with some kind of shift on the second half. Listen to more brohouse to get it just right, right now it's still too original.
>>
so I tried making a cool drop

If you have an adblocker and an antivirus you should be immune to all of audioz's weird shit
