yeah, I don't even think it's debatable. I could wreck any argument somebody has for SILY being the superior album

>>

Hey, that's a pretty great starter pair...now just stop now or you'll spend hundreds...haha...:/
>>
>>68609175
have you listened to that album with headphones? whether you like it or not its undebatable that the production is pretty damn good.
>>
>>68609118
Only some songs really need good headphones.

>>68609130
Here's you're news report for the day:

The Avalanches/Animal Collective: 2 of the greatest and most innovative groups of the past 20 years.

Aphex Twin = Complete and total hack who lacks the installation of emotional depth within his music. Plus he is just a poor man's Autechre
>>
there is a playlist on spotify called Songs to Test Headphones With and tbqh its pretty good
>>
>>68609226

>Aphex Twin
>no emotional depth

you might have a hearing impairment anon. or maybe you are trolling?

>Animal collective
>greatest and most innovative of the past 20 years

you have to be trolling. if not then get your terrible taste out of here you disgusting piece of garbage
>>
Both Souvlaki and Loveless come to life with FLAC + good headphones. If you can't tell the difference between FLAC and 320 mp3s like 90% of the time you just don't have the right critical listening skills. It's something you have to train just like anything else.

If you seriously enjoy music, you're missing out by not being able to hear all the subtleties of your favorite records. Train your ears.
>>
>>68609151
Sily is more holistic, has higher highs, no stupid rap features, sweeter melodies
>>
>>68609371
>If you can't tell the difference between FLAC and 320 mp3s like 90% of the time you just don't have the right critical listening skills
I'm always skeptical of claims like this. Can you successfully pass an ABX blind test on 320 vs lossless?
>>
>>68609064
forgot to greentext the 10/10
>>68609394
>stupid rap features
>still cant accept that rap is todays rock
>>
>>68609044
Never heard of this. Going to check it out because of that sick cover.
>>
>>68609568
It's great. People call him the Japanese Beck
>>
>>68609394
>More Holistic
No Way!!! The Neo-Psychedelic textures of Wildflower give off a way more Holistic/Healing Vibe. Especially the last 10 tracks
>Higher Highs
Maybe, but only because of the inconsistancy of SILY.
>No stupid rap features
Listening to Danny Brown rhyme over Neo-Psych Plunderphonics was incredibly fun and risky. The Noisy Eater might be the best rack. Becasue I'm Me is the best opener to come out all year. And whether or not you like Frankie Sinatra (which I do, of course) you have to admit it's pretty fun to hear Doom and Danny collaborating on a carnie sounding Avalanches beat.
>Sweeter Melodies
LMAO! Listen to these again: Because I'm Me, Kaleidoscope Lovers, Sunshine, Live A Lifetime Love, Subways, If I was A Folkstar

All those melodies blow anything from SILY out of the water, except maaaybe the Title Track

Please bait me better next time, or actually listen to the album. Don't just echo other people's opinions plen
>>
>>68609688
Two tracks in and I feel like I should roll a joint. This is great, thanks!
>>
>>68609453
Yes, I've done over 50 trials with many different songs from all different genres. I think I was like 94% correct, but I mix/master music for a living so I've learned how to listen critically.
>>
>>68609206
I have. Good production can't save bland, uninteresting music.

>oh wow that 35th *snap* sounded like it was right behind me!
>*clap*

Neck yourself
>>
>>68609536
Wildflower I admit has some great moments but collaborations just suck. That kind of thing ruined a portion of Plastic Beach for me.

Yes, He lacks emotional depth compared to so many other electronic and IDM artists.

>Implying Animal Collective isn't the most revolutionary band of the 21st century
Look how many times they changed their aesthetic from album to album and took risks/experimented with sounds that had never been used in contemporary music before, and yet many of their albums still come out Flawless
>>
>>68609697
I really like the album but noisy eater is so trash man. Its a worse superfast jellyfish

>>
>>68609825
Aphex Twin doesn't lack emotional depth you just need to listen to some more Aphex. May I suggest Drukqs?
>>
>>68608970
You could always listen to Steven Wilson's remixes of classic 70s prog records, like King Crimson's Red and Jethro Tull's Thick as a Brick.

r8 my headphones
>>
>>68609688
Wasn't feeling new music machine, but Clash and Count Five or Six are blowing mind.
>>
>>68609847
I have literally listened to Every Aphex Album except Druqks. My "favorite" is Ambient Works 2.
So Is it worth it? Can it change my mind about his emotivity? because I don't want to sound ignorant, if it really is a special album
>>
>>68609922
Have you heard the Come To Daddy EP? And listen to the RDJ album again. And Drukqs is phenomenal. Also I guess you've missed the Analord series? The Ventolin EPs? Analogue Bubblebath?
>>
>>68609835
How can you think it's trash?? WTF?! It's easily one of the greatest Hip Hop songs released all year! And Just as innovative as anything off Danny B's new album

>>68609845
>Doesn't see artistic merit in Hip-Hop
lol, you're opinion is already discarded
>He doesn't realize that Wildflower is completely sample based as well, while actually usiing 2-3x as many samples
Very shitty bait mah dude
>>
>>68609957
RDJ is good. A bit short, but all in all it's pretty consistant and has a similar sound throughout the LP that is executed pretty well. 7/10
Ive also listened to Come To Daddy and Windowlicker, of course, but I haven't heard the Analord Series or Ventolin EP's
>>
>>68609922
The piano tracks are Drukqs are super emotional. There's a lot of junk on Drukqs though don't feel you have to listen to every track if that's the reason you are not into it. Richard himself said he wnated everyone who listened to make their own final tracklist. Absolutely check out Mt Saint Michael + Saint Michael's Mount, Avril 14th, Cock/ver 10, and Jynweythek. Try each track though and if you're not feeling it skip it.
>>
>>68610036
RDJ is personally my favorite Aphex album because of the tightness of the album. Girl/boy song has a lot of emotion behind it too IMO
>>
>>68609730
never said i liked the album, just the production was good
dont get so triggered anon baka this aint tumblr
>>
Music Has the Right to Children (vinyl rip is up there with the best)
Pretty much any minimal techno/microhouse album
>>
>>68609064
>>68609088
>One has to be better than the other
>When they're both 10/10
Silly boys
>>
>>68609980
>opinion already discarded
Prove to me the the artistic merits of hip-hop

No the hip hop parts are clearly not just samples lmao

Go listen to some electroswing Frankie.
>>
Don't get me wrong, I love SILY, but how the fuck is that an audiophile album?

DSOTM is an obvious choice. Would recommend Cherchez La Femme by Dr Buzzard and HIGHLY recommend Tropeau Bleu by Cortex
