Let's get a post-punk thread going. Post some lesser known albums we don't see too often if you can.
Starting off with my favorite post-punk album:

XTC are such an underrated band. They've been posted here a bit lately, but I've barely seen them mentioned before then.
What's the best XTC album? I think it's this, which is also their most Post-Punk
Anyone listened to this? It's incredible

Anyone have reccs for more contemporary post-punk?
I've been into the genre for a while but I only know the classic shit

I think Public Strain is one of the best contemporary post-punk albums:

There's Interpol, The Walkmen, Iceage, Preocupations, Franz Ferdinand, off the top of my head. But I'm not too familar with newer post-punk bands.

There is no post-punk past 1985, just people doing bad impressions.

Most bands bad taste causes them to draw influence from all the absolute worst aspects of the genre and then just churn out boring and derivative shite. eg. Interpol, Editors, Soft Moon, etc.
Most "post-punk revival" bands are guilty of trying to cultivate this clean, sterile, futuristc sound and image and end up making shit so drab it could be in commercials. It's the overuse of the "ceremony" type drum beat and overly minimalistic melodies. It's all atmosphere without any real content. I suppose it's silly to be surprised that most bands are shitty, even if their influences are good. Post-punk-by-numbers is probably one of the worst trends in modern indie music. Aping Joy Division doesn't make you cool or your band good.

Nearly all those albums are kinda obvious. But they're also really fucking good.

or you could stop taking everything so serious. Like editors with their never ending pathos are the worst.
Just call it a day, print sadness is rebellion on leather jackets and roll with it. At least it is kind funny this way. I really dig lebanon hanover for that. Don't care if it's hipster crap

>Soft Moon is derivative
Confirmed for never having listened to them. Post-punk purists are the worst.

LoneLady - Hinterland
im looking for more music in the vein of Ought, specifically their song Beautiful Blue Sky
i love the monotonous and humdrum bassline alongside the laidback vocal delivery
anything along the lines of that?
