Why has /post-punk/ more replies than /dark/
>>68611139
Because they listen to The Smiths.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hq96AwXHuNA
why the heck did they disown this song
it's probably the best straight up pop song they ever wrote
dark? my STOOL is dark.

The response was to this >>68608503.
I've always had the impression that using the word post-punk to describe music would be more appealing than using goth or new-wave even though there is plenty of overlap between those words. Insecurities and self-image also play a part (yes, this is projection from personal experience) just like people that want to argue U2 isn't post-punk because they probably don't want a mainstream band associated with their newfound "patrician" genre that they discovered on their first month of /mu/. Normies ree etc. etc.
>>68612511
Nope, I'll join if you make one and others would too
Hey /dark/, is it still acceptable to like Skinny Puppy?
What exactly does "darkwave" mean? The more I read about it, the less meaning the term has.
>>68612511
I'll join
>>68613092
I always interpreted darkwave as either synth lead gothic rock or gothic neoclassicalism.
>>68613005
It's unacceptable to not like them at least a little bit.
>>68610586
damn, apparently me.
>tfw no seedy underground clubs in my city to roll in while listening to psytrance
i fucking hate my life
>>68611847
They thought the producer butchered it. I agree though, it's one of my favorite Banshees songs.

I hope so, just started listening to them recently. took a while to get into
can we have a lonely-birthday-core list up?
im really lethargic and i guess listening to /dark/ is the best i can do.
Is the discord gonna happen?
I came here to talk about Einsturzende Neubauten and Nick Cave
Where are the Einsturzende Neubauten and Nick Cave discussions
>>68617728
Probaly
I might create it
Just got into dungeon synth and neo mideval. It's really atmospheric, good for reading.
>>68618137
do it faggot
I hope there's a /dark/ revival soon. I'd love to have a local underground scene that's not indie rock.
PAY BAKC UR LOENS U FUCKIN SHITHEAD GOTHS

Uhh
What is the best Nick Cave album?
And why is it The Good Son?
>>68606426

>>68621216
I don't know what his best/my favourite is but I know I listen to Let Love In the most.
>>68621242
Also Skeleton Tree was amazing but took a bit to grow on me. Not an easy listen either.

Just messing with some shit before I make it public.
>>68621219

If I share some industrial deepcuts in the discord either on mega or thru soulseek would anyone be interested? Shit like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-NYQMtf2Bpk
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BM-Kdo6JHM

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4tmlElGgMaQ
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zucw12GdpyQ
or is this more of a goth/post-punk thing?
>>68621614
If you are going to do something related to mega.nz, do one with the /dark/ essentials on the OP, we really need someone to do that.
>>68621216
The birthday party live album
>>68621661
I mean yeah but I feel those albums are the ones anyone coming into this thread would already be familiar with. Not many people get into the actual deep cuts. Also I'm more of an industrial guy anyway. Industrial was usually lumped with noise threads but those threads were mostly japanese noise.
>>68621779
Yeah, I'm also more into Industrial than anything that's being talked about here
But I also like Nick Cave and Type O Negative so these threads are cool.
By the way, I accept these Industrial Deepcuts as long as they are on good quality (doens't matter if it's .flac or .mp3), put them on Soulseek.
>>68621823
>as long as they are on good quality
some stuff are vinyl or tape rips (not my own) or were downloaded in 192 so it can't be helped in some cases but I'll start putting them up to share on slsk.
>>68619923
I love <PIG>
>>68619923
I missed PIG and En Esch couple of weeks ago. Did I fuck up? If anything it would've been cool just for the novelty. It was at a cozy venue where you can usually meet the artists too. Although I honestly prefer Watts' mentor Foetus.
Everything on the Discord server is done.
Now here comes the big question.

Rank a /dark/ related band albums from best to worst.
Slow, Deep and Hard > October Rust > Bloody Kisses > The Origin of the Feces > Life is Killing Me > Dead Again > World Coming Down
Don't get me wrong, all of their albums are good, they have an amazing discography.
>>68624549
Closer > Unknown pleasures
>>68624549
Deeper > The Soft Moon = Zeroes

Hosannas > Killing Joke 1980 > What's This For...? > Pylon > Killing Joke 2003 > Pandemonium > Extremities > MMXII > Fire Dances > Night Time > Absolute Dissent > Brighter Than a Thousand Suns > Democracy > Revelations > Outside the Gate
How did Joy Division go from the more punk oriented sound on Warsaw and An Ideal For Living to the slowed down Post-Punk sound of Unknown Pleasures in one year?
>>68625372
Because Martin Hanett's visionary production and Tony Wilson's vision.
>>68624549
Wow this is triggering me. World Coming Down is EASILY the best Type O, maybe only behind Slow, Deep and Hard.
>>68625003
Fuck no

The Courtald Talks is a speech given by Jaz Coleman on the occult.
why are brits so good at this type of music
>>68627024
Grey skies, rainy days, old churches and graveyards, brown rivers, industrial cities, nightclub tradition, punk/post-punk tradition, english emotional character, etc.
What do you guys think about this album? Personally i love the deep ambiant tracks:ghost bitch, as well as the punchy no wave cuts: im insane, also the typical melodic sonic youth songs: brave men run, society is a whole. It is not as consistent or listenable as albums like goo or day dream nation but personally one of my favorite
How do you guys feel about Devil Doll? Are they /dark/?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYdcApobjTY
>>68624549
Kaleidoscope > Tinderbox > The Scream > A Kiss In The Dreamhouse > Juju > Hyaena > Peepshow > Join Hands > Superstition > The Rapture > Through The Looking Glass (idgaf about cover albums)
>>68625372
Because of Martin Hannett.
When you listen to their live albums/bootlegs from the UP era you realize that they still had a pretty pronounced punk sound live.
>>68626985
Brighter Than A Thousand Suns is a really underappreciated album. Adorations and Twilight Of The Mortal are as good as anything on Night Time in my books.
>>68627158
My favourite after evol and Daydream Nation. Very underrated imo.
>>68627024
