The NY Metro is loud and stressful, so I put on my headphones to listen to good music and block out the noise.

Absolutely nothing wrong with headphones on a flight, a long bus ride or something of that nature. But when you're sitting in a coffee shop with your $500 phones on, yeah, you probably look like a tool.

Two years ago my mother bought a cheap netbook for herself to use. She'd let me use it too since my computer was broken.

One night, I accidentally dropped it and cracked the screen. She wasn't that upset, just shrugged it off. We start using a HDMI cable running to the TV in the lounge to use it. Eventually, she buys a new one and lets me keep using the old broken one in my bedroom.

Fast forward two years, I still use it. Only now I've punched off the screen entirely, leaving only the keyboard. I use bluetooth headphones and walk around with the bottom half in a shopping bag so I can listen to stuff while I'm walking. True story. True autism.
