How can you (if it's even possible) tell the difference between good noise music and bad noise music?
>>
>>68570328
if it was mixed and mastered well
>>
>>68570328
don't expect a convincing answer from anyone in this general, they know as much about noise as you do(no offense)

>>68570388
lmao
>>
>>68570596

watch some of the videos i posted and get educated
>>
>>68570611
i am already familiar with the majority of those artists

>While a lot of noise fans might like to pretend that there is a line, be it firm and obvious or subtle, that divides "good" noise from "bad" noise, it's almost entirely subjective and down to personal taste.

>It's pretty easy once you've been listening or making noise for a while to spot dull and interesting works that all too obviously rely on cheap and unimaginative processes, be they identifying what are clearly run of the mill DAW plugins or even a bog-standard delay pedal that the artist can't tear themselves away from for whatever reason.

>So yes, while it can be easy to spot those boring and derivative works, there are people out there that genuinely enjoy that sort of thing, and plenty of the "good" artists started out making those same boring works before honing their craft and producing good material. The good/bad dichotomy is mostly subjective, but the larger consensus seems to coalesce around those same determinations of what is good and what is bad to make it seem like there's actual criteria to make those determinations. More than often there aren't any criteria, just a feeling, a "this noise sounds good to me" and "this doesn't" conclusion.

Cool
>>
>>68570877
they really aren't(and i'm not saying that because i think of myself as some top tier expert but because the person who wrote that blatantly has next to no idea about how noise music "works" for lack of a better term)
the line of logic they use is obviously one of someone who has put in no effort into studying the development of noise or even really thinking about the sounds that they are hearing and how they relate to the other sounds which they have heard
it's really grating when people try as hard as that guy did to sound like he's smart while talking about a subject that they really have no genuine knowledge of

there is good noise and there is bad noise and there is a way to tell the difference between the two
don't assume that just because you're too ignorant of where it's coming from and too unperceptive of what it's doing and why that everyone else is as well

>>68570886
nah i just had no beef with that dude and didn't want him to think i was trying to be condescending or something
>>
>>68571129
And cancer like this is why this general has been dead forever
>>
>>68571129
any secret recs?
>>
>>68571129
>there is good noise and there is bad noise and there is a way to tell the difference between the two
any value statement about any music is inherently subjective. you can develop more sophisticated and nuanced personal criteria for what you like in noise and those criteria could be shared with a large fraction of knowledgeable noise fans but that doesn't make those criteria any less subjective. this is true for noise just as much as it's true for any other genre.
>>
>>68570596
>>68570633
Can you tell why do you like noise then, huh?
No. Go ahead. Tell us, since you are waaaaay too familiar with noise.
>>
>>68571527
He can't, it's just a shitposter

This may be contentious, but I’m made uneasy by the resurgence in popularity of power electronics, martial industrial and neofolk, especially among veterans of vegan straightedge hardcore.

The way I see it, Crowley-influenced outfits like Current 93 and Coil took the short leap from ‘love under will’ to the ‘will to power’ to ‘triumph of the will;’ Death in June stumbled from the Strasserite Third Way to a Nazi fancy-dress fetish to rune-riddled Aryan occult waffle of the sort the actual Reich loved; Boyd Rice is an idiot who thinks his endorsements of rape, gender hierarchy and social Darwinism are something other than simple restatements of dominant cultural ideology; and Whitehouse and the entire cess-pool that is power electronics have a pathetically puerile fascination with serial killers, sadism, paedophilia, rape, violent misogyny, white power, and anything else that seems ‘oh so irredeemable and shocking,’ but shocks no one, as it is an inaccessible niche genre for other creeps who are already into that sort of thing and nod along approvingly.

Their apologists speak of art or provocation or irony or semiotic play. They may be titillated by violating taboos or toying with the aesthetics of oppression and genocide. But there is nothing radical about privileging white male violence and power. This is, in fact, the norm. It’s a norm I’ve committed myself to opposing. When I see SS and Hitler Youth haircuts and fascist flirtations come into vogue among an army of tough young white men with militant ideas about purity and crisp, severe, uniformed male dress, it doesn’t feel ironic. It feels frighteningly literal.

I feel the same way to be honest. I'm a giant fan of DI6, Spiritual Front, Rome and Die Weisse Rose, because it is beautiful music and because I am tired of the funk- and gospel-infused musical mainstream that doesn't speak to me as a white European male, but peaceful multiethnicism and coexistence of many peoples in one place is not what will come of this. Sure, opposing the monocultural mainstream is a good thing but this opposition of course (mostly now that it's still rather underground) builds on the people and value systems that have been opposing this monoculture most prominently of the last century: the far right. Having been to Runes + Men festival in Leipzig this weekend I agree that if there is irony in what the artists are trying to portray it is at the very least lost on most of the audience. Let's not kid ourselves, there is a right-wing revolution coming. Here in Europe it is rather obvious. The question is, can and will this revolutionary movement be transformed in favour of less racist/fascistic and more multiethnicistic and naturalistic values?
>>
>>68570328
All noise is bad noise. Some noise artist just tend to smell more like urine than others.

It's cool though, anon. Aaron Aspinwall gets it.

>>68571957
That's not true, it's definitely gaining traction in Europe right now. Which is not necessarily a bad thing because establishing an alternative to the Americanized musical mainstream in favour of music more in tune with European culture seems rather appropriate.
>>
>>68571581
Did you ever play Bionic Commando?
Don't worry, Bionic Commando will kill revived Hitler.

>>68571807
Is it important to you to identify yourself racially and sexually with the music in the mainstream? (sorry if I sound rude, it's not my intention)

>Is it important to you to identify yourself racially and sexually with the music in the mainstream?
It's not that, most mainstram artists are caucasian males anyway. It's just that the European musical traditions aren't part of the European mainstream anymore. Most artists on the radio are international (-> American) popstars and instead of being a place to celebrate diversity in diefferent peoples' cultures the music scene is becoming a monoculture that ignores European traditions. Even the German artists on the radio play funk/soul-ish electro/rock with "ethnic" drums or hip-hop or whatever. And the worst thing is that a generation of people has been grown and is growing up that has accepted American culture as their own. At least I heard some German folk as a kid when I was with my grandparents but the next generations do not even have that. I also discovered, on a more affective level, that stuff like Death In June just "speaks to me" musically more than any type of hiphop, funk, rock etc. I will say though that sometimes good things come from it because in the case of German hiphop some underground artists are really re-establishing such a rich vocabulary for the German language, making it accessible musically even for younger and less educated people, as much of our language is also being lost from generation to generation ever since widespread anglification. I'm grateful that my English is as good as it is so I can communicate with international audiences but I sure wish I had grown up in a German where proper German was spoken.
>>
>>68572904
Also, to make it clear, the main enemy in this scenario are not the African peoples and their music, it is American cultural imperialism and its musical traditions (hiphop etc).
>>
>>68572904
totally agree
>>
>>68572070
No it isn't stop being pretentious. I've literally never heard of any Europe artists that made harsh noise anyway.
