Boyhood
2001: A Space Odyssey
>>68548235
No, Replica is 2001: A Space Odyssey
It is long-form, ambient, subtle, mechanical yet natural. It is completely human but when presented from another perspective it is unmistakable foreign. It is frighteningly awe inspiring.
Both the movie and Replica manipulate the audiences perspective of something previously thought to be understood.

Roger Ebert was the only decent one but he's dead.

Also there's this book-reviewer on youtube, called Cliff Sargent, and I think his book reviews are shit but he has a film review channel that's much much better, called better than food film reviews. Hasn't uploaded in a while but.

Both TMR and Holy Mountain brake the "4th wall", that is one main reason that critics praise these. How Beefheart interacts with the listener and the studio equipment, he even talks about his band/ music during the album.
There are then obvious comparisons to how eccentric both of these are. Both can be labeled as "insane". Both make seemingly unconnected leaps through ambiguous and impossible to understand metaphors.
A normal, casual person who listens to TMR or watches The Holy Mountain would undoubtable think they are nonsense and full of random garbage; while the "intellectual and informed" listener would proclaim the hidden artistic genius behind the surface. They are both extremely polarizing.
Jaws
We need to talk about kevin

I've always associated this album with 28 Days Later because East Hastings is used in it, but it also fits the album very well regardless
