ITT: Albums you just don't get
>>68538159
Play STALKER with some realism mods and you'll can get it
>>68538187
Yeah me either. They promised me noise rock and sold me that shit
Anything by Sufan but this one especially. One of the worst albums I have ever heard. Reminds me of Cirque Du Soleil. All this contrived, arbitrary, corporate whimsy. All sentimentality but no sentiment. I am constantly flabbergasted that people go suckered into this shallow, emotionally dishonest trash.
>>68538233
two conceptual for me
>>68538225
>>68538187
Unless you heard it in your teens, you're not gonna get it. I hard it when I was 16 and now, it's in my top 5.
>>68538233
kys
>>68538187
The second half of the album is pretty good. Silver Rocket, Cross the Breeze and Eric's Trip all fuck up the album.
>>68538159
I don't see any appeal in this, at all
>>68538252
But I did hear it in my teens anon, I expected some Big Black or McKlusky noise rock not this
>>68538159
Seriously? This is a heavy as fuck album, 10/10
>>68538233
This is GOAT
>>68538408
I liked it the first time then it died for me
>>68538159
Weird. I get this but I don't LYSFLAH. Try listening to it while reading or meditating.
>>68538187
A lot of the appeal are the textures. Also I heard it described as a punk album with progressive song structures if that gets you in the right mind set.

>>68538408
It feels so sunny and happy. Really comfy.
Honestly Sunn O))) in general
>>68538159
f#a# is an unbelievable listen if you have absolutely nothing on your mind.
>>68538159
This is my go-to album at Halloween. My friends get spooked by it. It's become a tradition.
>>68538549
have you heard altar yet? that's what got me into them.
>>68538247
Yeah he went in this really weird rap-take on a space opera that totaled 2 hours with these blaring chaotic horn and string interludes.
Too conceptual and too intimate for its own good.
>>68538263
>Silver Rocket, Cross the Breeze and Eric's Trip all fuck up the album.
Worst opinion I've read all day.
I can't be the only one.
>>68538159
I relistened to this recently and was pretty underwhelmed. I'm fine with everything after it but I just don't see what makes F#A# so special.
>>68538233
100% agree
sufjan is trash
>>68538734
you aren't alone
>>68538670
I'm more into pic related. It's more "Viper" than his later stuff
>>68538775
>>68538734
I think it's like Aeroplane where you have to have a personal connection to it. No shame in not getting it, though.
>>68538734
>>68538775
I honestly find it so boring I still havent been able to finish it. People say it's similar to ITAOTS but I loved that the first time I listened to it.
>>68538957
But you have to admit the song the Glow Pt. 2 is amazing
>>68538734
>>68538159
These. Both underwhelming.
>>68539311
I wish I could answer you but I found it forgettable as well :( I can't remember which song was which. I'll give it another chance tommorow,
I'm pretty critical of it, and some have said "it's well-liked because it's prog for the masses".
>>68539311
I thought the intro track was by far the best on the album. The instrumentals are nice too. I just think his vocals are god fucking awful
>>68538233
What a waste of dubs
What album is that OP?
>>68540843
F#A#Infinity by Godspeed You! Black Emperor
I very much recommend it. It is some apocalyptic feeling, crescendo-heavy rock with long tracks and epic moments
I doubt OP is still here
Man, Sufjan fans are cringey
Stay Here just clicks instantly, but it gets stale by the half of the album.
>>68541098
not a fan of power for power or weakling?
>>68538734
Mt Eerie is the album that blew me away. Couldn't believe that The Sun was by the same band when I first heard it.
>>68538734
Good breakup/depression album
That's how I got into it
>>68538549
If you don't have good and loud speakers you will not get it i think
Fuck you, KFC twigs. You told me this album was GOAT.
>>68538734
It's a mix between comfy and feelsy. It's like Aeroplane's older, less intense brother, I guess.
>>68543272
Fuck you too, faggot. (I guess you have to listen to that record in comparison to Native Speaker. It's a great shift in sonic direction. Idk.)
>>68538247
I feel you, Viper puts out some really challenging work.
I've tried around 4 times but still can't get through all of this in one sitting
can anyone explain this album to me?
>>68538233
>corporate
using big words doesn't make you clever, especially if you don't know what they mean
>>68541098
this. i'd be lying if i said i like early swans
not a big fan of industrial and no wave, so that explains a lot
Their worst
>>68543606
Oh right, I forgot. Sufjan Stevens is so underground and indie. It's a wonder he's been able to get anywhere without the help of marketing or management.
Get real, idiot. Sufjan is about as authentically entrepreneurial and indie as Rihanna. You're living in a delusion.
>>68543588
it's fun, basically. Some harsh noise has all this detailed texture and rhythm which you can appreciate, but this album is just unadulterated noise and fun. It's a bunch of crazy japs getting together and releasing primal energy. Some people will dig that, but obviously to some it will just sound like the retarded noise it is
>>68543714
This also.
I really like the rest of their discog but this album is so dull and boring.
>>68543588
Don't overthink it. It's just cathartic.
>>68538159
>>68538734
Have you ever been sad?
Why do people love this?
>>68538233
>Cirque Du Soleil
They are cool in my book
