Honestly revisited this and I didn't know how much of an emotional wreck it was. Sure it's not suicidal or anything but it's painfully awkward, bratty and standoffish. It describes an awkward phase everyone went through and instead of being an edge lord, it just decides to run away and cry.
I had no idea this album was so pathetic and wimpy because all the songs are really catchy and energetic. Honestly an 8/10
Green Day is legit

Honestly their one of the bands I listen to when I come down from my obscure, pretentious experimental music taste
>>68376633
Green Day's early albums are all about that awkward, "I have no idea what I'm doing" phase we all go through. Kerplunk especially hits home with those lyrics, in songs like Android and No One Knows. Would definitely recommend that album if you want some vintage Green Day, OP.

>Twin Fantasy
>Happy go lucky
Honestly Green Day were always really good at writing pop songs so whatever they were saying was always masked because the songs were really catchy. Gotta revisit Kerplunk and slappy hours now

lol It's not all totally happy music, but it's music that cheers me up. You should, their lyrics actually get pretty dark on Insomniac as well. "Geek Stink Breath" is about meth addiction if I recall.

yeah Insomniac is great but that's when they sorta went edgy because "punk rock" fans were like "you're not punk enough" or something. Still think walking contradiction is hilarious though

Dookie is a classic, it's just a shame that they went to shit after Insomniac
I listened to it like a year ago and honestly it was awful
If I want awkward teenage pop punk I listen to Milo Goes to College instead

Yeah, slappy hours to dookie were probably the golden years, but theres stil some solid songs on isomniac

I unironically enjoy 21st Century Breakdown at some parts
>>68376835
>Would it last forever?
>If you and I together
>Hand and hand we run away
Probably Green Days best song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4siGMO2qlsI

21CB and American Idiot are great if you regard them as pop albums. The real reason to listen is the wonderful production.
Going to see them live next year, what am I in for?
>>68376830
how can u not like pulling teeth
desu if you think it's about an awkward phase of a child then you still don't get it
it's a record about being a scumbag loser dropout made by exactly such people
>>68377432
I agree with this.
Still love it, though. Not gonna lie.
>>68377475
I didn't mean that as a derogatory description btw
it resonates more with me now than it ever could have as an awkward middle schooler. If you've never been a scumbag bum of a punk (even tho it's not """real punk""" at all, that's neother here nor there) living on your parents' couch after dropping out of community college, you won't truly understand this dumb pop record
>>68377580
desu everyone has been through at least a few weeks of being depressed and doing nothing but jerking off
>>68377580
Gotcha. I don't know the feel of dropping out of college. High school, however...
