admit it anon you went throught all these phase in orders , or you have stalled somewhere, where is that? we can help u transcend.

pop
pop-punk\ punk-rock
Classic Rock
heavy metal
extreme metal (Insert muh classical)
Prog
Indie\emo
post-hardcore\Screamo
shoegaze
Post-rock
Noise Rock
Post-Punk

Transmute to \bleep\ head.
>>
>>68334056
note there can be overlap (heavy metal\exmetal , SG\PR )
>>
>>68334056
Pop
Punk Rock/Grunge
Classic Rock
Heavy Metal
Extreme Metal (Dragonforce)
Prog
Emo

I like stuff like Animals as Leaders, Chon, Polyphia so I guess Progressive Metal?

I listen to Neutral Milk Hotel and American Football though. Also a little Radiohead and a few months back I was really into Slint. So Idk where'd I'd position myself now.
>>
>>68334183
somewhere in between post-rock and indie my friend. get into shoegaze bruh. you can probably get a starter pack if you search the archive.
>>
>>68334056
For me it was
Pop
Pop punk
Prog
Metal

With the first three overlapping quite a bit.
>>
>>68334056
I started with terrible metal then moved into pop punk.
Then classic rock
Prog Rock
After that I got into classical and jazz and was pretty much done with rock other than some occasional indie rock for driving/background music
>>
Classic rock
Prog
Heavy metal
Pop punk
Indie
Extreme metal
Death grips
>>
>>68334056
I never listened to straight Pop as a kid, it was those shitty alternative bands like Linkin Park, three days grace, etc.
Then I had a pop punk phase,
Then classic rock,
I skipped metal altogether (except for like one Metallica song), I only got into a little bit of black metal later on in my post hardcore phase,
Started listening to indie/emo, punk,
post-hardcore/post rock/noise rock came at the same time, and then shoegaze, and then post-punk.

I would say right now I'm still in an amalgamation phase of noise, post-hardcore, shoegaze, post rock and post punk.
>>
>>68334056
Idk about genres but this has been basically my progression through music over the last, like, 2 years, when I first started getting into music (Just listing the bands I was really into, of course I listened to a lot more than just what's listed here)
>Daft Punk, Pink Floyd, Arcade Fire
>Radiohead, Beatles, Tame Impala
>King Crimson, M83, Sigur Ros
>Talk Talk, Aphex Twin, Swans
>Slowdive, Boards of Canada, Animal Collective
>Autechre, Tim Hecker, Stars of the Lid
>>
>>68334056

I pretty much only listen to hardcore, emo, and screamo now in terms of rock.
>>
>>68334222

>2013- Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Cream, Rush, The Ramones, The Clash, The Dead Kennedys

>2015- Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, Alice in Chains, The Grateful Dead, Phish
>2016- Radiohead, My Bloody Valentine, Foo Fighters, The Smiths, Social Distortion

What a ride.
>>
>11 years old
I listened exclusively to whatever rap song was charting at the time, cool white kid from east europe ya know
>12 years old
I think I got curious and looked Metallica up, liked it, then got into ACDC and Iron Maiden
>12 years old, second phase
I got a small interest boost in music so I made a Pandora account and listened to the Heavy Metal station, which only played Disturbed and Avenged Sevenfold, with random Pantera songs thrown in, MAYBE Iron Maiden every once in a while
>13 years old
discover Black Sabbath, Judas Priest and Motorhead
>13 years old, second phase
get into trash metal, my nickname was Slayer Kid for a while
>13 years old, third phase
get into every kind of extreme metal, start playing guitar, join the cool kid metal club
>14 years old
I remember this year perfectly, continued listening to metal until I randomly stumbled upon Indian Summer, switch from metalhead to prehistoric emo faggot and listen to every piece of noise rock, math rock, post hardcore and screamo album I stumble across
>15 years old
High school was full of metalheads for some reason, even though I still listened to metal during the previous phase, I start listening to it as my main genre again
>mfw the history teacher couldn't hold her excitement over you listening to Burzum
>16-18 years old
I was still listening to the same stuff, but also to hip-hop and some electronic
>19 (current)
I have been exploring genres like hardcore punk, folk and prog, can't say I'm really enjoying it though, I'm obsessed with Detroit Techno now though.
>>
>>68334056
classic rock
metal
classical
hip-hop
mathrock
jazz(fusion, free, funk, bassa nova, rock)

classical came because I began taking percussion lessons and began playing in orchestras and wind ensembles at a young age.

Now I pretty much exclusively listen to jazz and its derivatives because I'm focusing all of my energy on playing jazz because it is superior in its complexities and nuances than any other type of music, especially for my drums. because of jazz I can play pretty much every style of music that gets thrown at me.
get good plebs
>>
>>68334056
Metal (Metallica, Megadeth)
Classic Rock (AC/DC?)
Britpop (starsailor)
British alternative (Boa)
Shoegaze (The Verve)
[Hip-Hop]
Krautrock/prog rock (Faust)
Post-rock/post-hardcore/math-rock (Spiderland)
[Noise-rock interspersed between the previous two phases, continuing to today)

And now I'm still at those last three and it's fun.
>>
>Classical
mozart & beethoven and the ones literally everyone knows, i was about 8 years old then
>Speed Metal
>hard rock
>thrash metal
>classic rock
after that it went into a weird sort of unironically liking shitty covers of popular songs on weird instruments like /watch?v=wudV1c9jLKM
>dabbled in a bit of vaporwave
>now i'm stuck at space and prog (tangerine dream, mike oldfield, bit of Jarre's stuff)
>>
2009:r and b/pop (jesse mccartney)
2011: pop, pop punk, alt rock (think lady gaga, my chemical romance, paramore)
2011-2012: post hardcore, death metal, other edgy stuff (bring me the horizon and the like)
Late 2013-2014: still some post hardcore, no more death metal with bmth selling out, more mellow rock stuff after listening to Polar Bear Club
Late 2014: get slightly into prog (mathcore, genre fusion) and older stuff like guns n roses, started taking guitar seriously again
2015-2016: get into modern guitar stuff (steve vai, guthrie govan, polyphia, chon etc), still listening to guns n roses, van halen, the beatles etc
>>
>>68334056
why can't you like all this simultaneously
>>
12-15 hardcore scene was booming where I lived
15-18 rap phase (also my edgy teenager phase)
18-19 folk phase
