When you can tell yourself you're proud of what you've done, you're ready. Just remember that you're not writing for anybody but yourself. Nobody else has to like it, or see the same things that you do in it. Songwriting should be cathartic if you have stuff to work out. I've written a few songs in the last couple years that I really like, but I don't really show anybody. I'm not ashamed or anything, it's just not all that important to me. I guess what I'm trying to say is fuck that sadness and that unworthy feeling. Anyone can make music.

jk. give it a try. What's the worst that can happen? You make something shitty? Don't releast it. Or even release stuff anonymously. No one will even know it's you. You don't have anything to lose :)
