Pepper's just so everyone can say they're overrated for the sake of being contrarian or trying to disprove their cultural importance with the brilliant argument of "I just don't like it, I think *random jazz avant garde album from page 8 of RYM's esoteric chart since that's obscure enough for the anon* is better! Sure, nobody fucking knows jack shit about me save for me and 4 more people but I swear it's somehow better than an album that still receives praise for it's massive influence and innovation for it's time! I mean, what do people that study and analyze music daily and got an art degree know about music right? If you're not used to listening to glitch or IDM I guess I could see where you're coming from. It might take a few listens to realise that it's a really well done hybrid of IDM and shoegaze, even if you don't enjoy it. There's a lot of albums I can appreciate creatively even though I don't enjoy them.

Grew up on Warp/Ninja Tune and a ton of other electronic acts that fuse multiple genres together. What I mostly hear from Sweet Trip is ineffectively moving from one genre to the next without a common thread/cohesion.

I don't really see what you mean by this. It feels very cohesive to me; I mean look at how Velocity develops from glitchy beats into a shoegaze song by 4:00 or so. Or how Dsco ends with each part of the arrangement falling out til only the simple synth line is left. or how Sept transitions from its glitchy introduction with chopped-up vocals into a lovely heartfelt pop song. The album sounds like a computer trying to create human music.

Most orchestrated music, just about anything involving a string instrument.

String instruments are simply repulsive, the sounds they make have no musical or artistic merit whatsoever. Any "artist" or "musician" that has ever used them has been interested less in making actual music that is aesthetically pleasing to the ears, and more interested in jerking themselves off because it's popular.
