Friendly reminder that the New Boyz gave /mu/'s favourite rapper his big break back in 2011.

People don't get how influential New Boyz was. Without them niggas wearing skinny jeans wouldn't be a thing since the oldheads and le90srapbestrap kids would call them faggots + the jerkin dance was quite fun back in middle school

Soulja Boy was more influential. He popularized snap ("Crank That"), modern pop rap ("Kiss Me Thru the Phone"), and the Actavis-influenced trap sound ("Zan with that Lean"). Not to mention the fact that "Crank That" was one of the first songs to make all its revenue off of iTunes. This is still pretty influential, I will admit, but Soulja Boy changed rap even more than Kanye did with 808s.

True + the whole become popular through internet shit being an inspiration for all the soundcloud rappers till this day

This desu. I don't know why they split so early on in their careers.
Even after the whole jerking fad ended they were still coming out with hits.
Tie Me Down, Backseat, Better With The Lights Off, FM$ were all really popular songs that were on the radio really often. Then they just quit and went solo even though neither of them really had any appeal.
The darkskin dude just completely fell off and the lightskin one had a bit of a run and built up a small fanbase before falling off as well but judging from his new shit he does a shit ton of drugs now so he's pretty much fucked as well.

Legacy (the light skinned one) was pretty good for a bit desu. Like nothing special but there was a little bit of potential there.
