What does /mu think of ska?
It's the worst genre.
Ska is for 14 year old stoners who think they're cool and wear fedoras and who say m'lady
I don't see the appeal of it, especially when it was appropriated by punks. I have to stomach it whenever my friends play some. I think it's just too upbeat and annoying. Can't really ignore it, so it's not even a "eh" genre.
Official Ska power rankings:
2 Tone > 1st Wave > Ska Punk > Third Wave
>the meme where we pretend to hate ska
I love The Beat
>>68305363
Love it. Haters are probably too young to have experienced late 90s/early 2000s ska parties. They were the best parties.
>>68305446
I'm not pretending. Break beats are genuinely annoying when they're repeated over and over again
>>68305442
jamaican ska > > > >
i used to think ska was that type of music where people sing lyrics like shoob de doop be bop baa

Judging by that picture, you're either trolling or don't know what ska is (hint: it's not The Specials and the like; that's 2-Tone Ska, or 1st wave Ska Punk).
Anyway all of you can eat a cock.

It's funny because whatever meme wave was popular in the 90s along with ska punk was the one alternative scene where you'd find the most girls
I like original ska and the late 70's so called Two Tone ska revival.
Ska is fine when done correctly and tradition is respected.
what am i doing here

People who hate ska hate fun
And /mu/ is full of depressed people who hate fun

I think ska is alright, but the fans are generally annoying since they say "DUDE WEED LMAO"
All joking aside, this is a really fun solid record.

I have run sound for them a couple of times, and opened for then a couple of times.
They are badass. Their crowd is a bit older, but they are top notch musicians and relatively nice people.
Dave Wakeling is the reason I played a Dr. Z for a long time.

Not really ska, but a fucking great album.

tfw I like ska and Danny Brown.
But I also love meme bands like The Aquabats, so says a lot.

I honestly thought ska of all kinds was one of the best genres when I was in high school. I got into it because psychotic but somewhat qt gf listened to it. I have a few albums that mean something to me still such as Less Than Jake's - Anthem. But I can't even listen to it now because that was such a dark time for me...probably saved my life a few times tho. I remember liking a lot of 3rd wave and ska-punk. Also obligatory Sublime and Marley. Streetlight and RBF were good and saw them live. Idk how I feel about it now. My taste is drastically different now though. I don't listen to half the stuff I liked back then, let alone something like ska. There's a lot more interesting stuff going on right now. Seems kind of dead, but then again it was on its way out when I was getting into it. I doubt shit warped tour even has one ska related band on the lineup now.
So why do so many people confuse ska with ska-punk?
The former is Jamaican mento + r&b
The latter is pop-punk with horns
Not really similar.
No one gives a fucking shit if ska is different than ska punk. We fucking know but we aren't all pleb level autists that have to label everything correctly to feel superior. We get it. We know. We just don't care.
>>68314578
This thread proves different.
an uninterpretable genre just like reggae
I like Madness
Is Amy Winehouse Ska?
She covered Monkey Man and You're Wondering Now and even appeared on stage with The Specials at some ska fest in Brazil before she died.
>yanks finding it hard to differentiate 2-tone ska with third wave ska
