drug scenario is not as wild as the memes might convince you. I've seen the boys 3 times - plenty of beer drinking, a little weed smoking in the crowd, a few people very obviously gazonked out of their minds but not causing any trouble. It'll be a weird show, but you knew that when you bought the tickets. I've been listening to them since 2008ish and I'm pretty ambivalent about their music. Never really gave the new album a proper listen, but I saw them back in May. Why do they seemed so depressed now? Every interview I've seen with them from this year has left me feeling bummed out. I don't know, they just seem so down. Maybe they're aware that they've lost something that was meaningful to them that they can't get back. But then they talk like there's no difference between what they were doing in the 2000's and now, even though it doesn't really look or sound like they're having fun. As upbeat as it sounds on the surface, Painting With is really one of the most depressing albums I've ever heard, because it somehow screams pain while displaying this front of "we're happy now!" It's really soul crushing and almost nihilistic in that way.
