What does /mu/ think of Audioslave?
>>
First album is packed full of solid jams, and the rest of the discography is pretty forgettable. Getaway Car is also a very underrated song.

Chris sure knows how to write lyrics.

>Pearls and swine bereft of me
>Long and weary my road has been
>I was lost in the cities
>Alone in the hills
>No sorrow or pity for leaving I feel
>I am not your rolling wheels
>I am the highway
>I am not your carpet ride
>I am the sky
>>
Like a Stone is cool I guess
>>
>>68283970
Song just sounds like RHCP to me.
>>
>>68283804
they ok
>>
First album is good.

Second album is ok I guess.

Third album is good.

They're decent enough.
>>
Some nice retro 70s tunes eg. Cochise. Never been a fan of Chris's voice, but Tom Morello is a guitar god.

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>>
>>68283804
this is the only band I enjoy ironically.
>>
All three of their albums are ok, but could be culled down into one really amazing album. Most bands can't do that because most bands change the sound and production from record to record, but all three Audioslave joints all sound like the same album. It's not a bad thing.

Also, Chris Cornell isn't at his best but he's quite good with them. The bassist and drummer are really the unsung heroes of this band, they do the most interesting shit and it's their teamwork together that makes half the songs even work.

It's the worst self-imitating shark-jumping work Tom Morello has ever done. He used to be GREAT, and he's still pretty good, but he ruins his own legacy and ruins Audioslave with his tryhard.

Verdict: the world is a better place because Audioslave graced it, but not really much better. They all did genuine, earnest work, and TM exhausted his limited bag of tricks ad nauseum.
>>
They're great and I wish there were more contemporary bands like them.
>>
Ah, that 2000s supergroup fad.
>>
like a stone is one of my favorite songs
>>
I'm really grateful it exists because I love Tom's style but abhor RATM's rapping and I love Chris' voice but am not big on Soundgarden's music either.
>>
>>68287565
>but abhor RATM's rapping

Or their embarrassing lyrics.

>rapping about overthrowing this oppressive pig capitalist system
>as you're signed to and promoted by Sony
>>
I seen The Audioslaves in Boston on their first tour. They played Avalon which is <2000 people, standing room only, and it was amazing. I was 5ft from the front of the stage all night and despite getting Chris Cornel sweat and spit on me all night it was absolutely epic. He broke a new mic stand every single song. Must have left a heroic dent in the stage kek.

Unbearable buttrock.
What next will we have discussions about, Godsmack?
>>
>>68289070
>buttrock
they aren't buttrock. unbearable is a judgement call but they are objectively naht buttrock
>>
Audioslave were actually made of respected musicians from respected bands, Godsmack not so much.

No fuck you. They are butt rock in practically every way. The juvenile heavy rock songwriting, overly commercialized (especially compared to the respective bands the members came from), and raspy vocals with the "we're badass" vibe. The only thing not butt rock about them was their ballads because Chris Cornell got tired.
>>
>>68284547
is this a reaction or an example
>>
>>68290338
>The juvenile heavy rock songwriting

I mean, these guys were like 40 when they made those albums. You think by that age they'd write about something other than the agony of being an adolescent white male.
>>
>>68284191
better than being a shitskin like yourself rofl
>>
Also funny that the best song on the S/T is an anti-alcohol tune.

>Some nice retro 70s tunes eg. Cochise

Just Chris and Tom channeling their childhoods of listening to Rush and Bachman Turner Overdrive or some shit like that.

They're the universally enjoyable "I'm a teenage boy" band that I was always able to make smalltalk about because everyone sort of liked them because they were pretty good. That being said, they are only alright. As far as 'rock music' goes, they're a really good example of it and an excellent case study since they were pretty good, but making such stale music that it was obvious that 'rock music' had gone as far as it could at the time and everyone ventured off for something new.
