What does /mu/ think of Earth, Wind, and Fire?

open our eyes is a great album, their pre-disco period is generally p solid
Would that /mu/ knew jack all about soul and funk.
Other than Shining Star, they're really pretty tedious and uninteresting to listen to.
When black artists try to poorly imitate Kansas.
Love the song you and I.
That's about it from that album

Great band, a lot of great tunes. Pretty sure Miles Davis said they were one of his favourite groups.
/mu/ has never been too good for soul/funk/r&b though
All 'n All [Columbia, 1977]
Tight harmonies, high tension horns, and textures incorporating sounds from many lands dominate a first side that cooks throughout. There's only one thing missing. Still, as unsympathetic as I am to lyrics about conquering the universe on wings of thought, they shake my fundament anyway. B+
I Am [CBS, 1979]
Catchy, sexy, danceable songs dominate side one. But as we all know, they could be doing better. B-

I don't think they sound anything like Kansas.
