ITT: post the most reddit band you can think of
Either...
Death Grips
or
Grimes
Without question pic related
So we just post bands like on any other website?
ATDI breaking up was a mistake
honest serious question, how is it that this website has so accurately captured the mind set of a typical reddit user? besides their obvious popularity there, there's just something about these bands that feels undeniably reddit, it's such a weird thing
>>68266011
when you have shitheads from reddit invading the site on like 15 different boards, you eventually learn their ways in some respects.
>>68265858
Queen
>>68266104
this
regardless of what you think of them there is not a more reddit band out there
>>68265858
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Literally every normie I talk to says it's their favorite rock band.
>>68265858
Gorillaz
Muse
>>68266008
They are pretty much the perfect border between /mu/ and reddit, but they are more /mu/.
>>68265897
>>68265858
These two are great picks.
>Swans isn't literally the first thing to come to mind for everyone in this thread
Arcade Fire
Arctic Monkeys
Beastie Boys
The Beatles
Childish Gambino
Daft Punk
The Doors
Foo Fighters
Gorillaz
Led Zeppelin
Metallica
Modest Mouse
Nine Inch Nails
Nirvana
Opeth
Pink Floyd
Queen
Queens of the Stone Age
Radiohead
Rage Against the Machine
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Rush
Sublime
Tool
"Weird Al" Yankovic
Wu-Tang Clan
>>68266927
>Weird Al
SHUT YOUR COCKHOLSTER
>>68265858
I fail to see what's wrong with Coheed and Cambria. In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth 3 is phenomenal.
you're favorite band
>>68266894
>implying Reddit knows who SWANS even are
>>68266927
But Tool is legitimately good. Their musical talent was so good, it actually breached pop rock shit to indie eccentric rockin again like some weird black hole.
I agree with you about Nirvana, however.
>>68267086
i like em a lot too, doesn't mean they're not reddit
>>68267086
>I fail to see what's wrong with reddit. r/atheism is phenomenal.
>>68266008
objectively wrong
>>68267123
"you are favorite band"
That's deep, man.
>>68266008
wrong opinion
U2
>>68266008
TMV >>> ATDI
Cedric's vocals are unbearable in ATDI.
Foo Fighters
second stage turbine blade will always be one of my favorite albums and i don't give a single fuck if you wannabe trendy losers think that they're "reddit"
What's reddit-y about Coheed & Cambria?
>>68267148
>Their musical talent was so good, it actually breached pop rock shit to indie eccentric rockin again like some weird black hole.
Don't get me wrong, I fucking love Tool, but Danny Carey really is the backbone of virtuosity for that band. All of the members have a great sense of rhythm and follow Carey really well, but aside from how well they can play within the time signatures, the bass and guitar parts aren't at all intricate. I always hear about how Tool's basslines are other worldly but I imagine that must always be coming from some amateur high school bassist. Granted, they play only what's necessary, so I guess they do in a sense possess a skill which would do well in the hands of many bands. Maynard's voice was definitely a force in their heyday, though.
>>68267408
>TMV >>> ATDI
>Cedric's vocals are unbearable in ATDI.
Objectively wrong. The aggression in ATDI shits all over the tea kettle falsetto he had to resort to at the end of TMV.
>>68266011
Redditors use self expression as a way of projecting their insecurities. They want to look cool and different but only in the most nondescript and inoffensive way possible.
These bands are just the level of "different" and "edgy" that a 20 year old hipster can pride himself in knowing about but not actually offend anyone's tastes or opinions
Bands like Nickelback and Coldplay suck, these esteemed consumers of the arts listen to The Arctic Monkeys and Pearl Jam
>>68267498
Literally all "prawg-ressive" metal is reddit-core.
>>68267444
This, hands down. Trips do not lie
>>68266927
>weird al
you take that back right now young man
>>68266927
>tfw most of my stuff is reddit tier
>>68267521
Any metal fan would laugh at you if you called them metal. Coheed and Cambria is pop punk.
>>68267604
maybe if you've only heard either a few hits from their peak or their recent singles
>>68267604
>Coheed and Cambria is pop punk
lol
>>68267604
I wouldn't call them pop-punk but otherwise I agree. That doesn't stop Reddit from lumping them in with Dream Theater and the like, though.
>>68267408
Eh, he has his strengths in ATDI and almost as much flexibility as in TMV. There were times listening to ATDI record where I didn't even know it was him at first.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOnWgdHo2eY
Song possibly not related, it's just one of my favorite ATDI vocal performances outside of Enfilade.
>>68267604
>Coheed is pop punk
Thanks for the laugh. I needed it.
Gorillaz
>>68268109
As much as I love them... this is correct
>>68267444
correct answer
>>68266927
>The Beatles
God you're so pretentious
>>68267086
it's probably the scifi (?) concept of their lyrics. i have no clue what the concept is, i only listened to no world for tomorrow, it feels like iron maiden worship with a vocalist who's prone to michael jackson-isms but it's pretty great all the same
to be reddit basically means to be too genuine in humor or ambition
to be 4chan would be to hide behind too many layers of irony and cynicism, i guess
>>68266927
>Beastie Boys
>Daft Punk
gonna have to disagree with you on these, they're too poppy for reddit
>>68268653
death grips are to 4chan as soulja boy is to myspace
>>68267086
I hate them
I hate to say it

nah you're right. plus killer mike is a dindu then turns around and says "I KILL COPS FOR FUN BIX NOOD"
I still like the music though.

>>68270151
>"I KILL COPS FOR FUN BIX NOOD"
It's pretty interesting because Killer Mike's father is a retired Police Officer.
I think it's pretty cool a while back he praised a really nice cop in Arkansas who has an instagram account where he is friendly with the
children of his area.
http://hiphopdx.com/news/id.33808/title.killer-mike-applauds-arkansas-cop
I think Killer Mike would be devastated if his music were taken the wrong way and inspired someone to murder the police, obviously one's artistic work shouldn't be taken literal. Ice T certainly doesn't want you to be a Cop Killer.
>>68266041
What an unfortunate nose to be born with.

kek this.
met some numale that said his fave bands were swans and GY!BE his entire personality was meme.

Funny how the bands you listed are in alphabetical order. It's as if you scrolled through your iTunes library and listed these bands off.
>>68267148
lots of those bands are good, they're just really reddit too

>>68266927
everything but nin. trent and charlie clouser made incredible tunes. the production value of alot of their songs were incredible for the 90s. especially charlies work
Surprised nobody has said them yet.
Even the PatD Bohemian Rhapsody cover on that gay ass SS album blows Heathens out of the fucking water yet nobody seems to realize it.
>>68272648
It really isn't insane at all, though. Have you ever tried learning a Tool song? The parts are dead simple, the timing is the only thing a moderate level player would have any trouble with. Other than that, no fancy fretwork at all. They play it pretty straight.
>>68267604
>coheed and cambria is pop punk
Y I K E S
>>68265858
So... what is a "reddit" band?
From what I've gathered, a reddit band is
>>68265858
not quite Rock 'n' Roll
>>68265897
Vocal in their political opinion(s)
>>68266008
Experimental but hugely popular
>>68267444
playing the "best buddy" card
And I guess, most importantly, they're all "major label-indy".
Meh, be thankful you weren't alive in the late 90s, boys.
What you're looking for is "post-grunge". "Post-Grunge" was reddit before there was reddit. Only that nowadays, thankfully, people have developed a certain awareness of that genre's insufferable cheesiness.
>>68270700
>>68272156
>>68266927
So at this point does redditcore just mean "anything that's popular that I think is overrated"? Why would you want to categorize an artist based on their fanbase?
>>68265858
Let's turn that question around: What's the only NON-reddit band in existence?
>>68270670
This a level of contrarianism i didn't even think was possible.
>>68273997
they sold out bro just listen to their new shit

>>68266927

They listen to pretty much the same shit we do expect bands like Nirvana or other really famous bands also make the front page.
even neutral milk hotel gets thrown around a lot
>>68273997
>Your Son Killed Himself Because You Suck
They are edgy as fuck.
Better group.

>>68267501
The bass in tool songs gets overrated really hard cos it's very beautiful but it's quite easy to play. Adam Jones is either insanely overrated or insanely underrated depending on where you're looking. I've seen some people call him the best metal guitarist of all time which is objectively wrong, but the majority of people sleep on him entirely and he IS a very good guitarist. He's not a virtuoso, no, but he does some really creative and really cool stuff while still remaining incredibly listenable and that's very impressive.
Carey is far and away the best musician out of them though, possibly my favourite drummer ever and a top 5 all time candidate. Maynard had some pipes but god he couldn't write lyrics for shit
Queen, Muse and Tool
>>68267148
>Tool has musical talent meme

How has nobody posted Portugal. The Man yet? Most reddit band in existence
these faggots did an AMA
>>68270779
That jawline makes up for it though.
>>68275438
I remember i loved them in high school. They made some good music but their newer music is really hard to listen to because it does really sound reddit.
Gorillaz is definitely Reddit: The Band.
>>68265858
I unironically love coheed and cambria
>>68275995
Most bands do an AMA these days.
Do you expect them to do it here instead?
>>68265897
This, even though they're a guilty pleasure of mine (The riffs, not the lyrics. Fuck the lyrics.)
>>68277055
I honestly don't get what the big deal is about them, or why they're so popular (aside from the Blur thing)
Pink Floyd without Syd Barrett.

a reddit band is just obscure / experimental / controversial enough to satisfy redditard's need to feel like a special snowflake but not enough to actually challenge their preconceived notions of music
given that, the most reddit-tier music that comes to mind is Radiohead, prog rock, and pop -core
>>68277071
Yeah dude they're great. They're just a bit cheesy for a lot of people I think.
