I think my list would be more than a tad different, but the fact that you got Supes on their makes you a cool guy - personally futurama is my choice but I like em all (even ooyeah!!) - have you listened to the demos/unreleased stuff off re:1 and 2? Thoughts?
>>
I really wish I knew more Japanese music.

>Boris - Pink
>Boris - Akuma no Uta
>Boredoms - Pop Tatari
>Melt-Banana - Fetch
>Shonen Knife - Let's Knife
>Guitar Wolf - Jet Generation
>Yellow Magic Orchestra - Solid State Survivor
>Osamu Kitajima - Benzaiten
>Ruins - Hyderomastgroningem
>Yasuaki Shimizu - Kakashi
>Mariah - Utakata No Hibi
>Mainliner - Mellow Out
>Ryuichi Sakamoto - Thousand Knives of Ryuichi Sakamoto

I understand this stuff has essentially nothing in common but could I get some recs anyway?
>>
A few good ones, but mostly a shit list

Pink isn't even close to being the best Boris album, for starters etc etc
>>
>>68246742
that shiina ringo album is pretty great
>>
>No X-Japan
>Lacking a lot of essential electronic, experimental, and psychedelic releases
>List made mostly of noise rock/drone

seriously? What a fuck awful lis-

>F 23

That was actually not bad of a list. I see you find Radiohead overrated and Pop Tatari to be the best Boredoms album; I fucks with those opinions. So...you from the east coast? Wanna meet up sometime? Listen to some Keiji Haino collabs?
>>
>>68246653
OOKeah!! and OOYeah!! are the best Supercar albums, Futurama has plenty of good stuff and the live version of "Karma" from their last live is crazy

>>68246877
i'm never going to try to rate Boris releases except to say Rainbow is the best thing i've ever listened to in my life, but i'd love to see someone just put a solomon release or mabuta no ura or something as their favorite for once instead of the usual PINK, Amplifier Worship, flood, Akuma no Uta, etc.

>>68246742
go listen to the rest of Boris's discography in chronological order. after that, OP's list is a good starter pack for the umbrella of "rock" music as are most of these lists, most genres' "big names" are covered there, start with those and look for associated acts for what you like

>>68247064
she's got the right choice for fav NUMBER GIRL album but we all know The Archives of Rotten Blues was GREENMACHiNE's best. also Lavender Edition is better than Umerumonoizen but only by a hair

>enjoys karma live
>likes umeromonoizen

I don't even care if you think ookeah and ooyeah are best, I will turn gay for you anon - now if you say you love haco and daisuke tobari I will get that sex change done

Does this comp actually exist?

I have been looking for it forever.
>>
>>68247373
perfect album but it saddens me that people dont seem to get into the rest of their discog. theres gems all over the place, and it hurts me to know theyre gone and couldnt make anymore
>>
>>68247260
love you too hun, heard Secret Garden last year when it came out and really enjoyed it but haven't listened to it lately. Till The End of the Dream is also good. can't say i've "loved" either artist enough to pursue their entire catalogs but i like what i've heard. rec me where to go next with them. if you're enough of a trap then don't worry about a sex change. OOKeah!! and OOYeah!! have never popular choices for Supercar faves with anyone i talk to but they've always touched me more than any of the band's other releases. band had some great b-sides too
>>
>>68247373
Not op, but it's I love it tho not necessarily for the long season live - which is great tho I prefer studio version personally, but the first disc stuff is just fantastic - I can't remember the exact track name, I want to say it's track 9 and from UNS (or orange can't recall) just gets some real funky licks in on the change up midway - primo sample material IMO

What is everyone's thoughts on new shintaro sakamoto? It's growing on me but I will say I love his first two are deffo better (you can be a robot too for song of the decade)
>>
>>68247468
On haco and tobari, riska and drum (guitar is more or less TtEoD, but track 4 makes it worth it), respectively - funnily enough I think my second favs by them are the ones you mentioned (track 3 and 6, respectively, are my fucking jams)

And you know Supes wise I still love them - I don't care if it's "pleb" but they're my fav dammit - I always felt ookeah!! Is their truest shoegaze album - fucking satori man - and yeah I feel you, electric sea (would it be correct to consider it a b side since it was on B?) is for lack of better word ELECTRIC. I will say flava is my goto by them (and begrudgingly prolly why I say futurama)

Unfortunately I'm am ugly man and prolly an uglier woman - but dems the breaks

Anyways got any recs? Jpn or otherwise
>>
>>68247679
will check those releases out. appreciate it. B was just a collection of b-sides from all the singles, kinda confusing with A being a greatest hits but B also having songs from the full albums that were also b-sides like "Hello", but yeah it counts. for me it's mostly "Gumnova" and "Antenna" that get me. i think generally the people i've known into Supercar have liked either Three Out Change!! or Highvision the most. uh shit lemme throw a couple things at you

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0nCcZIz7jQ - Rollo, incredible lo-fi psych rock, recommending 'cause you like Umerumonoizen
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5d7ceABiDyA - CONDOR44, Japanese alt-rock group in the vein of Supercar and NUMBER GIRL and the like, never blew up but released three full albums and a bunch of smaller things
>>
>>68248010
very nice man thank u (alreay feelig the rollo, hard of ondor44 but never gave em a fair shake, but will do) - and I feel yeah on both Antenna and Gumnova- you a lucky guy tho to know people who like Supes in general, got nobody around here real into them

How you like Afrirampo? If have not checked it, Suuto Breaker is the TITS - swear to god thats a go to. And forgot to mention, but Sappukei is deffo the best NG album - man the PV version of Urban Guitar Sayonara is soooo good, wish I ripped it when it was still on YT
>>
Anyone have that Japanese chart with various genres an Anon made? It had a megalink containing all the albums

I was hoping the anon would have added Towa Tei by now.

I've also been searching for Frenesi - Gendai but the only place I could find it was on a 4shared page
>>
>>68246509
I don't get why that Fushitsusha album was chosen out of any other Haino-related album.
>>
>>68248427
not a lot of people over here in America i know who know Supercar but met plenty more during my brief trip to Japan. haven't listened to Afrirampo intently since high school actually but i think i still own Kore Ga Mayaku Da and Suuto Breaker somewhere in my CDs. as for NG my best friend loves School Girl Bye Bye the most and that's always gotten her surprised responses. but it seems with NG the opinions about which is best are fairly spread out ("Thirteen" is the best song they ever did btw).

here's my favorite two-piece girl rock group: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOETgbR6v7U not as avant-garde as Afrirampo but they are pretty wild and the standing drum aspect messes with my skull

Anybody see Boris on tour playing pink in it's entirety in support of the 10 year re release?
I did and I thought it was really great, I had a great time and I went by myself
Earth opened and I wasn't sure how that would be live, standing there for it, but I also enjoyed that a lot
I regret not picking up the vinyl for pink but it was kind of expensive so I bought a bunch of shirts and the CD insted

shitty pic related

I'm going to see them in December. How hyped should I be?
>>
>>68249361
I'd be hyped if I were you I was contemplating driving from NY to Boston to see them again
bring earplugs because they play very god damn loud
>>
>>68248899
It was a badass show, one of the best.

Earth was shit tho. they are like a parody of what drone should be. idc how influential they were. That was just some weak cowboy shit.
>>
I'm drunk and on someone else's computer right now but does anyone like Yura Yura Teikoku

I liked Smile more than Pink. As much as I enjoy Pink's sound I wasn't really interested in hearing 60 minutes of it.

This was my 3rd time seeing them

MAn totally jealous on botht the afrirampo CD and Japan front - want to go, but i feel like I should be better at speaking/understanding the language before doing it. And I think you friend has a fair position (to be air, bands like Supes and NG for me I can understand most any choice of album) - and totally thirteen is jam, fucking inazawa's drumming - I think i'd go with Urban, but I will say Tabuci version Mappurimua Girl is up there for me - wish we got more of her on the vox (unfortunately can't say i really enjoyed Toddle based on the one album, Dawn Praise the World, i've listened to). And again, thank you, that track was fantastic - love noise rock that just oozes fun and whimsy over "serious art"

and to keep in spirit of thread, some other good (imo) jpn stuff:

> from nikaido kazumi - mata otoshimashita yo
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WgJSRP8Z0Ns
>from Corrina Corrina - Corrina^2
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0CXQZRcFiyw
>from Uzumibi - diorama

>Supes - Re: Supercar 1, Disc 2 (actually released by Nakako, but consider it a Supercar offering since its supes remixes and demos/unreleased stuff

Dont like X-Japan. I'm only on the east coast when I visit my parents.
>>
>>68247373
It's good but I dunno. Don't really wanna listen to it for like 2 hours.
