Anybody who discards country music is an Idiot
Agreed?
>>68235870

most serious Alt-Country is pretty good anyway
also you have Lee Hazlewood and Gram Parsons

>>68235968
Oh I see, because he has a t-shirt that makes him a meme.
I guess every other fucking thing in the world is a meme.
A U T I S M
I agree there are some geniuses out there, like John Fahey, Townes Van Zandt and Cash, but 95% of country is bullshit.
>>68235968
So what you're really telling me is that you let other people dictate what your tastes in music are.
>>68235982

>>68235993

kind of just indicating that mentioning Johnny Cash might not be necessary

>>68238515
Not talking about modern country, think back before country sold out harder than any other genre on earth
>>68238515
You are right about the arrangements, but if you are just dismissing Van Zandt's lyrics and delivery, then you're just a retard.
>>68236259
>no stapleton
pleb detected
>>68238648
Stapleton is flavor of the year country-it's-okay-to-like. He's good but he's not the second coming people are talking about.
One of my personal favorite album

>Anyone who hates what i like is an Idiot
>Ok?
I don't know who I hate more, the "country sucks" children or the "modern country sucks but classic country is good" snobs
>>68239910
Modern Country does suck though. All the worthwhile artists dropped the country label and just made folk music instead.
>>68235997
>>68235870
There is "good" country, but Townes isn't one of them. He actually more resembles the cultural decline that lead to garbage like modern pop country. Hes ridiculously melodramatic and its hard to take him and all "country" like him seriously when he can make a an entire album about the pains of life and still take himself seriously.
>>68239910
Give me some good modern country then. Right now, a list.

>>68240031
Go fuck youself.
>>68240031
Post an example of good country then.
>>68240016
>>68240058
It's easy to compare a few years of "modern" country with nearly a century of "classic" country and decide classic country is "better". But that's a really dumb comparison to make. Add a big dose of nostalgic fetishism (and simple classism) and that's really the only place you're coming from.
It took me a long time to appreciate modern country, and that was really about setting aside my expectations and biases about the genre. And there's still a ton of garbage out there, but it's always been that way. I'm not going to post stuff I like because I don't expect some kind of instant conversion. Keep giving it a chance and reevaluate your prejudices.
>>68240749
When people say modern country is trash they're mostly referring to country pop rather than someone like Vince Gill. Not to take away from your overall point.
>>68236245
I can't recommend Corb Lund enough.
>>68236259
Also pretty good.
>>68240905
Definitely. But there's also plenty of people who don't even make that distinction and write off any mainstream country music made after the 70s.
