I'd say around Pop, with a brief resurgence in the days of All That You Can't and How to Dismantle that subsequently was lost by NLOTH
2000

The early 00s
They stopped being good in the early 90s
>>68208348
My Dad likes U2, that is enough reason for me not to like them.
>>68209488
I mean, why would anyone actually listen to their music before coming to that conclusion anyway
>>68209488
Really? My dad likes a lot of different artists that I like too. Mostly classic rock, but it's good music still.
>>68209538
Nice comment, really made me think about attitude. Very clever, adept use of sarcasm, I'm quite impressed.
>>68209488
their post-punk stuff is pretty good

My posts are okay really, not that bad, you know? Pretty decent, but nothing to write home about.

i'd say Zooropa was the last time they actually put an effort in making something both different a listenable, after that well... Pop wasn't really good (utter shite)

Relevant to what?
>Relevant to the casual audience
after the iTunes thing pissed everyone off.
>Relevant to dads and dadrock enthusiasts
never, they sold out the biggest venue here in 3 minutes recently enough
>Relevant to music in either a musicianship or post-modernist capacity
They were never relevant to begin with
A friend of mine's uncle was in a punk band that used to play with U2 when they were babbies. A record label executive was at a gig to sign this guy's uncle's band but the uncle was drunk and 'such a punk' and told the guy to fuck off because contracts are not very punk. so he signed U2 instead. True story. U2 were known as a shitty Dublin band until they got signed (my mam grew up around them and they weren't exactly popular).

After the "hype" for No Line on the Horizon had died down following its release.
Their 360 tour was a pretty big deal I think, like them or not.
