Lately a lot of music I've been listening to are much longer than shit I was listening to years ago. Nowadays the average length of songs that I listen to are usually around 5-8 minutes whereas before it was around 3-4. This got me thinking: is a song more likely to be better if it's past 3 and a half minutes? I chose 3 and a half because that's the average length of a song on the radio. What's does /mu/ think?

Music is fucking shit. What the fuck are you feeding your ears? Listen to some Mongolian throat singing, that'll fix your dilemma real quick.
now you see, it's mostly where you search.
I preferred the 5-8 length because it can really suck you in depending on how well it's made. Tool is a prime example of cozy lengthy songs, searching can really help you friend.
Kids attention spans these days are about this small you know! Absolutely crazy, but depending on my mood I don't mind a quicky ear worm to get me through the day!
I agree with you man. Music that's 3-4 minutes are usually brimming with a lot more satisfying notes. Oddly enough, we seem to be reverting. If you listen to old swing music from the 30's and 40's, they seem to be 7-8 minutes long! Unfortunately, modern music doesn't quite have the beautiful, alluring catch of 40's jazz.

I've actually been listening to a little bit of old Nu-Jazz and Latin jazz like Cal Tjader. If you dig deep enough tho you'll find all the new modern music that isn't shit.
