Is hip hop entering another gold age?
>>68180794
Golden age*. Fucking autocorrect
It's totally exhausted. Iron Maiden has more life in them than hip hop. Proof? The scene is totally incestuous; it's themes are circular and go no-where; the backing music would be better left instrumental; the market is flooded.
>>68180843
Go back to the fucking Rolling Stone Facebook comment section you old fucking hick.
>>68180794
nah hiphop is dead.
its all about post-hop now.
>>68180865
it would take so little to make 1,000s of CDs released this year seem like 40 years ago that I sit and wait for the inevitable.
you think I'm gon' fall off?
GOT SOME ADVICE FOR YA HOLMES
Fall asleep,

in your car,
with the windows up!
>>68180920
do you work for the BBC?
>>68180865
he's exaggerating, but he is right about it being a bit exhausted at the moment. To Danny Brown's credit he's doing his part to keep shit fresh and interesting. Too many rappers with personality deficits mumbling through predictable lyrics atm.
>>68180938
Nah I work for the DBP
Danny Brown's Penisjerkingbrigade
>>68180884
progressive neo post hop or get out asshole
I got no time for this funny ass regular post hop shit
further proof, outside their home town a lot of these people don't get big audiences, go to another country they close off half the venue so it don't look too bad. It's a mirage that /mu keeps going really, that and the broken chart system . Thks .
it's been in one since 2010, but this album could be the end of that age in a good way. kind of like post-punk for punk, and that's probably intentional with the influences of this album
i love it, the thing is, it's too manic and inaccessible. the influences are all there for sure, you got some andre 3000, some hudson mohawke, some A$AP, some left-field avant-garde shit.
and i do love it, don't get me wrong, but this is probably a one-off great album. it's like it turned up vince staples and clams casino production to 11 and just went on a week-long coke-binge.
>>68181045
How can a spiritual sequel to a classic mixtape that quantifiably expands on and reworks the sound of the original be a "one off"?
>>68181087
i mean an album like this is a one-off. it's not going to be as influential as people think it is.
I was at a birthday party and I asked some young people had they heard of Tyler the Creator. Nobody had. We're freaks you know that?
>>68181108
Oh in that sense I agree completely. This is not where the general trajectory of rap is heading and that's part of it's charm
>>68180794
>entering
We are already living it boi
>>68181143
Tyler the creator sucks huge dick though
>>68181212
Kinda sucks that Birds was mediocre as fuck.
>>68181431

ITT: whiny teenagers
Hip-Hop is in the best place it's been since it began in the 70s in the Bronx. Everything's literary now. It's underground. There's no tough guy posturing bullshit.

someone needs to make a cartoon of this whole album
>>68180865
haha mad that someone else isn't a modern progressive who only listens to nigger music
>>68180794
FUCK OFF VIRAL MARKETERS
>>68181254
That's because Tyler's music pre-CB is 100% by teens for teens. That's why it's weird that nobody knows him at a young person's birthday party.
Personally, I live in the South so every white person knows rap here
>>68181718
>mfw this guy was born this century and as never listened to anything before SSLP
There's a reason people still call the 90s the golden age buddy. Look at how many GOATs we have have today and look at how many are from that era.
>>68180843
so is every scene
welcome to the internet you fucking pleb

soundcloud rap has given me much joy

holy fuck this is gorgeous
i love seeing clouddead besides saul williams besides danny brown
your taste is heavily clustered around anticon though... pretty hard to argue this is a broad view of hip hop
>>68181612
I loved birds, desu. I thought the atmosphere Travis created on the album was great. Could've closed a little stronger, the tracks after Pick Up The Phone were definitely the weakest.

>>68181667
In reality, these are the ktt hypebeast album rankings.
i hope there is more stuff that's going to head in danny's direction, but i doubt there will be a lot of it.
hip hop is defined by soundcloud rappers and trap rap right now.

>pale gated community teen starts listening to hip hop in 2015
It has been in one since 2015 started desu
