Is it even possible to get RRR 500 on the digital medium? I am too poor for vinyl.
>>
>>61862278
a rip of it exists but it just plays through each groove once and then moves on to the next one, kinda ruins the nature of the record
other than that, nothing

talking of RRR locked groove records, anyone here own RRR-1000? how is it? great lineup/concept and i'm really curious about how they all made use of the nature of the record
>>
why is good noise so hard to make? every time i try i get incredibly bored and disillusioned with what i'm doing and put it away in disgust.

like, how does a masterpiece like merzbow's antimonument, venereology, etc even come to exist? he's a master at it. i hate when people think noise is some kind of lazy man's "anyone can do it" music. sure, anyone can make noise, but it takes something else to make artful noise.
>>
>>61862401
I've got it. Beyond the incredible groove density (which makes it nearly impossible to find a specific track if you're looking for it - a huge problem for trying to get a good rip out of it), it's the first RRR big lock-groove records that's got specific contributions with the input from all the artists. The Lescalleet, KFW, and Sudden Infant sections are incredible.

Everyone should have a copy. The following vid of Aardvark cutting the master is great too:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dA4Yw8iQ_NQ
>>
>>61862586
i don't think "good" noise is any harder to create than any other sort of art really
same as with most creative endeavors, it's just something that takes years of dedicated work and a concrete set of developed and constantly developing ideas and purposes behind it
merzbow has been going at it since the late 70s but even with him it wasn't until the second half of the 80s that he started producing really accomplished material
>>
>>61862601
Hey Brother! Did you listen to THE RITA/POWER MONSTER split yet? I finally listened to some of her material (posted a thread or two ago) and found it was pretty HNW. Haven't listened to that release but I wonder what she would bring or vice versa to the table. Their material is really similar. Granted THE RITA is more dense and conceptually driven.
I have every intention of listening to some of Pete Swanson's guitar oriented projects today as well. For those interested: http://thequietus.com/articles/10749-pete-swanson-interview-sarin-smoke
Listened to pic related again last night. It's uh..uh....just as amazing as everyone says it is. Been digging the late 90's/2000's laptop aesthetic lately (whatever that means, but you know what i mean)
>>
>>61862586
Your noise is bad and you get disillusioned because you are comparing your art to other people's.

Have an idea, and then make a track, and then ask yourself if the track executed your idea well. If it did, then congratulations, you made a good song.
Tard.

INTERESTING MERZBOW INTERVIEW

https://web.archive.org/web/19980201190109/http://www.digi-zine.com/17merz.htm

MERZBOW: One of my goals is making lots of albums as Sun-Ra who made 180 records. But maybe I'll make more in the near future. So, my next goal is making 1000 albums.

MERZBOW: My background is early 70's progressive rock and Surrealism. I was looking for a way of realising theory of "Surrealism" as Andre Breton and George Bataille. For me, Surrealism was an alternative sense of a way of expression by mixing Anarchism, Alchemy, Schizo-Paranoia and fetishism.

My interest became more physical sound as "Velocity", "Sonic Pressure" "extasis of loudness" "metallic electric orgasm" etc.

MERZBOW: My message is abstract concept and vision as "Metallic Velocity" "Hypnotic Void" "White Big Nothingness" "Spiral Electric Trance". There are no dark or light. If sound have policy, it seems heavy and serious. It's my taste.

/meal/fag here. I've been looking to get into more noise/power electronics groups. Being into gindcore, it seems like a logical step. What are some artists and labels to look up?

maurizio bianchi
macronympha
incapacitants
grunt
hair police
prurient
ahlzagailzehguh

kevin drumm

john wiese

>labels

mother savage noise productions
pica disk
freak animal records
hospital productions
hanson records
fusty cunt tapes

tesco organization
alchemy records
harsh head rituals

off the top of my head

a number of these artists and labels are also involved with grindcore, noisecore, black and death metal so there's that

>>61874771

the guy has paved the road for so many paths in noise and has produced such a massive amount of varied work that saying he's shit just makes you look like you listened to a couple of his early 2000s albums and shrugged him off, without even realizing that he's already been producing material for decades at that point

he shaped and defined what noise music is and what it is understood to be more than 95% of other noise artists
barely anyone else was making noise when he started out
>>
>>61874996
Right, I can agree with you there, but if you shape something to become greater, that doesn't necessarily make your shit the best. You know, the most enjoyable to listen to. I respect him, of course. But his actual music? Not too big a fan.
>>
>>61875147

>>
>>61875447
>>61875471
fernow's pretty brilliant but he's also got some really stiff competition considering that he emerged at a time when a shitload of other brilliant noise artists started emerging all around the US and europe

when it comes to his label though, and how much he's done to break down a lot of noise-related boundaries regarding location, audiences, genre classifications etc., he might be the most important figure in north american noise from the early 2000s onward

True, Hospital has a lot of great releases, even if the really overpriced super limited tape only gimmicky shit is dumb.
>>
>>61875603
Ejaculation Generator's (Generater) gotta be my favourite.
>>
>>61875717
I should take a photo of my Hospital collection, it isn't that large and is just records and cds no tapes as of yet but it's organized poorly so it might take a while.
>>
>>61875717
eh, i'm kinda sympathetic to artists and labels when it comes to highly-priced releases as long as the design and content of those releases goes above and beyond just a plain couple of tapes in standard packaging and is actually something deserving of its cost(i'm thinking here of prurient's colonialist nature and misanthropy as a good example of a release which justifies its price, or the burning star core/prurient box-set, or to go with another hospital regular artist, yellow tears' the cult of yellow tears)

the problem with hospital's overpriced editions is that for a while there they really, really did not justify their price tag and just felt like fernow exploiting all the bandwagoners that came along after vatican shadow blew up, at the expense of hospital's dedicated core audience

the prices for hospital releases have returned to being pretty reasonable during the past couple of years though, so hopefully the days of "of the memories of friends"-type hustling are behind us
