Thread for those who've advanced past /mu/core, p4k BNM and the same old. For those who've...
a) been listening to music seriously for 5+ years
b) with musical training and regularly perform music

/mu/ is 300 post bump limit
This just seems like a semi-ironic circlejerk but I'll bite.
I've been bumping this dream"pop" band, some really col tape loops and ambient textures.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVdrTvYnR6o
As far as music, I've played guitar and related instruments for several years and am getting into keys and electronics.
>>61842263
I'm a noise pleb, mainly into PE. What's good?
>>61842280
This isn't what the thread is about, discussion should be about music, not who is allowed to post in the thread.
Who else enjoys modern funk here?

"Advanced" music taste is an absurd idea and those criteria are vague and abritrary
>>61842305
This for real.
That pic is an essentials chart anyway.
>>61842337
These were all favourites from last year, bit of soul in there too but mostly rich, modern funk greats.
The Mighty Mocambos - Showdown
The Haggis Horns - What Comes To Mind
The Sure Fire Soul Ensemble - s/t
The Soul Motivators - Free to Believe
The New Mastersounds - Made For Pleasure

Speedometer & James Junior - No Turning Back

>Masonna
>Hijokaidan
>To Live And Shave In L.A.
>Hanatarash
>Birchville Cat Motel
>Werewolf Jerusalem
That's how I got into the genre
>>61842320
I like some stuff but I've hardly gotten into the genre enough
>>61842358
Its just a thread for talking about different music that would 404 in a sea of shitposting and the same old /mu/core because it never got BNM really.
>>61842280
daily reminder that several of these albums are really not good
>>61842358
yes it is but despite that, the last thread had a lot of good albums out of left field that are definitely worth listening to. if it takes a pretentious OP to achieve that, then so be it
Kind of underwhelming on first impression, but I suspect I need to listen louder.

I mean, there's lots of death rock / goth / post punk I could recc, but most of the bands are far more popular than Virgin Prunes, so you've probably heard of them
I did just get turned on to this yesterday by some kind anon, never heard of them before and liking the little Ive heard

i just like the intensity of real skramz i suppose. it must match some hidden turmoil within me. also i love the guitars a lot in screamo. stuff like kidcrash, pg 99, orchid, carol, ampere, and corea (among others) is really cathartic for me.
idk. it's hard to justify listening to something so angsty, i understand where a lot of people are coming from when they can't get into it.

I know there are some power electronics bands that do this kind of thing, iirc the title track off blue rabbit is an example. I'm particularly interested in not-super-edgy occult focused narratives though. I'm so advanced, that I've gone beyond advanced.
I like to NOT listen to music, as a way of listening to music. Basically, I listen to the world around me as if I was listening to an album.
The mcdonalds in huddersfield town is one of my favourite anti-albums. I like the nice beep noises coming from behind the counter, and the chatter of the people surrounding me as I chew my tasty meal. Very good.
One of my other favourites is manchester airport, very good anti-album.

And it's not /daily/ or a general. Just discussion of music we don't see posted a lot.
what are some good music-focused field recording artists? the only one I know of with a significant discography is Francisco Lopez. others such as stephen p mcgreevy or olhon have small discographies, or are not musically focused like Toshiya Tsunoda or most of the animal call recordings. By music focused I mean that the tracks are normal to long length (unlike animal call recordings) and not excessively broken up with jarring silence (Toshiya Tsunoda does this sometimes). I'd be particularly interested in recordings of things humans typically can't hear, either because it's in some exotic location that we cannot reach or because it's a wave that the human ears can't detect.

Yeah I'm aware of the RYM avant-teen crowd, but I'd like to give more avant-garde music a shot before I write it off as pretentious wank, plus I've liked really experimental stuff before.
>>61842280
Gwendal was literally the band that made me starting to listen to music seriously at the age of 16. Forever one of my favs.

you can't see me....
>this thread
>>61846768
nobody said that
it just turned out to be a thread of music people legitimately enjoy that doesnt get a lot of attention amongst the same old shit that is posted all the time here
i understand the pretentiousness behind the OP but the fact that it led to some actual music discussion is promising, and why would you want to detract from that?
what is wrong with you?
>>61846895
it does sorta feel like his kinda thing doesn't it
>>61846849
you sound like your 14. of course theres a thread for people to prove they are more knowledgeable about art than others and look down on people who are less aware. thats the realm of all art critcism and academia in gereal. if you dont like people challenging themselves and others with difficcult music why listen to music? for mindless enjoyment?
>>61846928
Nothing. I apologise if there is genuine music discussion.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6zYwe3YCiI
here you go
>>61846968
Friend, the sad part is, the masses do only listen to music for mindless enjoyment.
>>61846895
>different music
>must be hampus
>>61846968
You realize enjoyment isn't necessarily mindless right? I like experimental stuff specifically because I enjoy it, not because it's challenging. That's just a byproduct of the music itself.
>>61846973
well... there was
then it got derailed
who fucking cares anyway
>>61847061
I agree with you, but like I said to the poster, sadly, a lot of people do mindlessly listen to music (in the background or at work) and don't really get to take not of everything that's happening.
>>61846443
Im gonna suck ur dick if you pass out if you keep talking to me like that faggot
>>61847042
nah m8 this has his type of mild elitism that actually promotes musical discussion. not saying it's him but he's done shit like this.
>>61847061
sorry what? explain to me where you are using your mind? of course its possible to lsiten to experimental music simply because you like how it sounds. i listen to it because i like to think criticially of the world and to be exposed to new philosophical questions presented through sonic media.
>>61847178
Music is the inferior art form for philosophical examination. I listen to it for purely aesthetic purposes.Philosophical examination, when present, is a nice bonus and nothing more.
>>61847223
Aren't you enlightened then?
>>61847223
Like BRO shut the H E DOUBLE HOCKEY STICKS up
>>61847295
I don't think so. It's just my opinion.
>>61847324
You come off as incredible pretentious.
Spastic Ink - Ink Complete
One of the most rythmically elaborate albums I know of. Just drums, bass and two guitar tracks. The whole thing was composed via note sheets sent by mail (thus the band name).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWeoKOcXWCM
>>61847357
Think what you will.
>>61842280
literally haven't heard of a single one, and stopped listening to /mu/core years ago. Where do I start, just picking random albums and listening? If there was a list sorted by genre it would be helpful
>>61846806
just listened, this was beautiful. any more like it for someone who hasn't heard much choral stuff?
>>61847484
Go for it man, look at as it as an opportunity to hear new music instead of a gateway to being patrician though, if you've been on /mu/ as long as you say you have, you probably know that already though.

>>61847682
Check out Blotted Science. Same guitarist (Ron Jarzombek), drummer is Hannes Grossmann (Necrophagist, Obscura) and Alex Webster on bass (Cannibal Corpse). So it's got a bit more extreme metal influence:
