I have said this many times, but here I go again.
Music quality is arbitrary.
Music quality can be determined through objective and/or subjective characteristics.
I consider that one of the objective ways of determining music quality is the most consistent way to do it.

I don't have any avant-teen music on my chart as far as I know.
Pop music is cool.

Laura - Radio Swan Is Down
>>
I want to create my own collage/chart of my favorite music albums; however, I don't want it to be repetitive. There would be a couple of radiohead, swans and coil albums. What do?
>>
Don't make charts to impress people you don't know. Charts should reflect your own music, trying to be pretentious or impress people who spend a lot of time here is a void exercise, it will only make listening to music a burden rather than an enjoyment.
Understand that anyone who insults you or tries to degrade you for your music taste is basically an idiot who spends time insulting people online, you really should pay mind to them.

>That's wrong though. There's no toe/AF/TTNG/etc
still mediocre just because those bands manage to be even shitter doesnt make them any less awful
>You don't like fun?
i do but dumbo music made by a pre-california Mike Patton
>Yeah, they are bad, but I like them,

I could tell you my system of ranking albums, but I will keep it simple.
For each of your favorite albums, count how many Great songs and Awesome songs there are. Great songs are 9-10/10 song that you love, but aren't something you would call mindblowing. Awesome songs are actually mindblowing, tear inducing, or give you intense chills. For each Great song, add 1 Point. For each Awesome song, add 3 points. If a song is between Awesome and Great, add 2 points.
I hope my autism helped you to solve your autistic problem.

Yeah, probably, but they don't have a lot in common with math rock in the traditional sense. They are more Hardcore Punk/Progressive Rock (or Power Prog, as their bandcamp site says).
You should have specified that earlier then. There's Happy Family, Planets, Pak, Ruins, Melt-Banana?, Adebisi Shank, Upsilon Acrux, Cheval de Frise, and Korekyojin.

>>61826779
What are some good math rock bands then?
California is great too, I like both almost equally, but the self titled is just so consistently fun that I can't not love it.
>so an album by a band that you realize are terrible are in your top 100
Yes, because my chart is made up of my all time favorites (or well, since 2015), meaning that the albums that have had a bigger impact on my life are going to be there, even if I don't like them anymore.

>>61826779
lol why are you such a sad person
>>
>>61826871
Doesn't seem like it. Just a slightly more opinionated anon than the average, which is pretty cool.

Am i a math god now?
What do you think about Extra Life and Zs? I love those bands.
>>
>>61826930
>Am i a math god now?
Sure. I don't claim to be the most knowledgeable person on /mu/ about the genre though. I have known one or two people on here who really know about the genre.
Extra Life was cool, but haven't let their music sink in yet.
Zs' Acres of Skin is one of my favorite songs ever (somewhere in the Top 100). I remember liking other song from Arms, like B is for Burning, which is a very cute song in the oddest sense of the world (it also reminds me to Normal Love's Ndugo, which is even better, but not as cute).

>>61827027
Even if you have a shit personality, i must accept that you know a lot about the genre.
I just remember that you are from Chile, muh country.
What do you think about the scene? It is somewhat big, but some bands are just wacky memes for teenagers.
>>
>>61827085
>Even if you have a shit personality
It's not as shit as it used to though.
>i must accept that you know a lot about the genre.
Relatively speaking, of course.
>I just remember that you are from Chile, muh country.
Yeah, /mu/ is filled with chileans
>What do you think about the scene? It is somewhat big, but some bands are just wacky memes for teenagers.
Not really into it. There are a few bands from here that I really like which just happened to have a concert or something together (from Hip Hop like Como Asesinar a Felipes, to Avant-Jazz-Rock like Akineton Retard). Pretty impressive, huh? I have no idea when they are going to make another such thing though.
>>
>>61822873
why six degrees of inner turbulence
>>
>>61827191
I never got into Como Asesinar a Felipes, the instruments are fine but the lyrics are retarded.
I consider myself a fan of The Ganjas, I love what they have done with psych without being awful like The Holydrug Couple. Lucybell is fine too.
Interestingly, there is a small math rock scene since some years, I find Tortuganonima pretty decent.
>>
>>61827242
Because from memory, it's the DT album that has the most songs I really like. I haven't listened to it in a long time though, so my opinion about it could change (for better or worse).

drop! i wasn't a fan of affection at all but I. is fucking candy man
>>
>>61827263
>the lyrics are retarded
Yeah, I agree (it might have to do with their vocalist and his voice tone though). It's not as bad as other Chilean stuff in terms of lyrics though.
I love the overall ambiance of Comenzara de Nuevo. Kind of like Amon Tobin's.
I haven't heard of Ganjas, but might check them out. I have heard of Lucybell and a few of their songs, but don't have any strong opinions about them yet.
Yeah, wasn't very impressed with Tortuga Anonima, but Paroxetina was pretty cool (they have some generic radio samples here and there though, unlike CAAF's which are actually interesting).
>>
>>61827439
>Paroxetina
I totally forgot about that band, I love them, sadly that i couldn't go to any of their shows.
I really miss Fother Muckers, they were really good. Sad that BriceƱo became a faggot obsessed with old awful latin pop.
>>
>>61827608
>Fother Muckers
From what I remember, they were pretty generic. There were a few very fun threads about them being some huge assholes though with their fans though.
>>
>>61827659
They were a bit generic but god, Justo y Necesario was a pretty cohesive and catchy album.
They became assholes when they changed their name to Ases Falsos, now almost everyone hates them except the hipsters from private universities.
