Post prog with quality songwriting
>>61805120
Wedding Nails is literally the only good song on this album
>>61805120
First Utterance
>tfw you're a fucking paedo
>>61805120

House with No Door is fucking gorgeous songwritingwise.
>>61805120
>>61805306
Haha what a funny and creative post
All my karma are belong to you anon xD
any gazpacho really
>>61806248
such a good fucking band i thought they were going to be shit because they were on steven wilsons label
just wondering do you like muse?
>>61806304
Gazpacho is like if Muse was subsumed by Talk Talk.
>>61806339
something like that
i find them similar to mew in a weird way
>>61806304
i liked a few of their older songs but can't say that I do. I know people compare them to gazpacho because of desert flight sounding like muse.
>>61806359
I've heard comparisons to Radiohead as well.
People latch to much onto what the vocalist is doing I think.
I should probably go back and listen to Gazpacho again at some point.
>>61806397
try out their new album
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CilKoLWV7pA
this period is way too overlooked due to the associations people have with their days with Fish
>>61806457
tfw cant get into marillion. i dont see the gazpacho comparison at all either.
>>61806454
Yeah, that's what I was planning to do.
I have a lot of stuff I need to listen to.
I've discovered how underrated recent Psychic TV albums are and I'm kind of obsessed right now.
>>61806494
I don't think he was making a comparison.
>>61806544
i know, just saying other people do, everywhere.
>>61806494
that comparison is probably based on the fact that marillion's modern sound reminds people of OKC-era radiohead in the way they're a british pop rock band with that kind of 90s alt sound. Their last album sounded a lot like late porcupine tree too. But honestly those comparisons are a bit easy and meaningless.
there's a "sound" to prog bands that were influenced by 90s radiohead. who the fuck is in a rock band today without having been influenced by 90s radiohead tbhfamilia
>>61806544
I wasn't, but the comparison tends to be made rather often
>>61806584
radiohead is essentially prog too, idk why nobody says it
>>61806860
They aren't prog. They make slightly experimental pop rock.
>>61806584
I'm in a rock band and none of us have much of a taste for radiohead.
>>61805137
I can't tell if this album cover is shit or genius.
Actually it's genius.
>>61805168
>I'LL BE GENTLE
>I'LL BE GENTLE
>>61807156
>experimental rock
thats prog
>>61807282
it isnt
>>61808199
alright
Steven Wilson anyone?
>>61808221
Glad we agree
>>61808199
>>61808543
well, you're wrong so..
I find it hard to find prog with quality lyrics and singing that match the intent of the instrumentation. Anyone have any recommendations?
>>61809488
Porcupine Tree, Steven Wilson
>>61805358
muh african-american
best van der graaf album without a doubt
>>61805424
this
>>61805133
these were exactly my thoughts when i was 15
>>61805424
Best itt
>>61805168
>DIANA DIANA KICK YOUR FEET UP
>>61806860
They aren't prog. Some of their stuff is without a doubt influenced by it (OK Computer), whether they admit it or not
>>61814067
Bands like Transatlantic and Flower Kings are the death of progressive music
speaking of Wilson, that new album/EP/whatever it is just leaked.
prog metal fans BTFO by Steven Wilson

Oh cool
Although 10 minutes of it is a well known PT song
The Lamb lies down on broadway
Much of Genesis' Early material is high tier
>>61814348
>I want to do something with more electronics, bring in some heavy guitars again and focus more on melody
This is promising. I actually think the problem with SW is that he's losing track of what made him good in the first place, resorting to 70s prog worship instead. He struck gold on Raven but much of HCE and GfD was very dull to me. Wilson's strength has always been his poppy influences IMO
>>61814329
It's pretty mediocre, as expected
4.5/10
