the miley cyrus shit's gimmicky as hell, but their presence on her album is there imo, makes it listenable just cuz it's the flaming lips at all.
i agree about the experimental stuff but think it's mostly on their originals. great or not with a little help from my fwends reigned it in w/ actual melodies from sgt. pepper's and their collaborators on the album.

But In a Priest Driven Ambulance is their best, also Embryonic is clearly better than Clouds Taste, Yoshimi and At War with they mystics.
