I don't know, I think Russian Circles can still put out some good stuff.

That said, I just think everyone in the genre sounds roughly similar. Departure Songs pulls a lot from Post-Rock but has by far a more interesting "theme" than most post-metal/rock prog-metal bands of the year.

Anybody ever listen to August Burns Red? I have almost no interest in metalcore however they are different. Drums lead more than guitar and you can hear heavy inspiration from classic thrash and doom metal throughout parts of their songs.
